Baker in a different role was worth a go but the backline isn’t it. Half forward next (at Casey)

Jordon stiff. Free kick was rubbish and we’ve got away with walking up as we returned the ball for years. Viney is Viney.

jordon wasn't stiff, jordon was dumb

that's exactly why the 'time wasting' rule came in

Wasnt stuff. Was told twice to hand the ball back

If Carlton had a forward line (aside from Mackay) they might do some damage this year. But they’ll be 9-10th I’d say. Defence is average too

got The making of a good midfield though

Carlton very scatter gun. Look a bit like Melbourne 2018. Could cause damage this year.

Fritsch again goes to ground laying an ineffective tackle.

What is up with him? Dees need to take the finger out - serious attitude issues.

Credit to Carlton though - they'll make finals based on this.

We look pretty flat, disorganised with less numbers at the contest. Lucky it’s just a practice match!

Sure but it’s a new rule and preseason, someone has to stuff up so the others have seen it

Being absolutely reamed by the umps I'd say.

Yep but we are looking very ordinary

Pretty insipid training run I must say. I get we have no back half but I’d expect some pressure around the ball at least.

Come on down Weed?

dropped marks, slipping over. Very rusty.

Our big guns are a bit off and we’re mucking around with it inside 50. Plus the backline is the backline.

Nothing too concerning so far, really it’s the result of winning a game by 80 points.

Advice for the inside 50’s is take the easy ones.

Advice for the backline is stick more defensive then worry about rebound or intercepting.

Am I watching the same game as you blokes we had almost double the inside 50s and got unlucky a few times they aren’t even close to on top.

Remember the last time we lost a pre season game?

Spoiler alert: we won a flag

No Salem or May. Pretty much doing ok. Only downside I can see is we are susceptible to a crumber. Hibberd usually fixes that quick smart so he is our biggest loss.

If the new interpretations are anything to go by scrap them. The umpires have killed us.

Every bounce going their way so far. Agreed.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
