TRAINING: Friday 4th February 2022

Our depth is now one of our biggest assets imho.

One or 2 outs wont hurt us nearly as badly as it used to. (with a couple of very obvious exceptions in the guts ofc)

Im loving the lack of expectation our supporters are placing on the newer kids. Develop them properly and we could be at the pointy end for years.

GO DEES!

Thanks PF

Another great report. Very detailed and so promising from all concerned.

1. Say Tmac and Mitch Brown ( why is he in rehab BTW?) were injured and Round 1 was this weekend who would you replace Tmac in the forward  line with?

Sam W OR JV Rooyen?

2. Does the same side (23) that won the FLAG get selected on their form  and fitness up to now. OR is their a standout that could press for selection from our emergencies and up to say 33rd best players available?

Thank you

58er

Fantastic to hear that it was a ‘fair dinkum’ match sim.  A few knocks and bruises which, on the face of it, seem little more than than you would expect on game day.  Seems that competition for spots is intense, and will keep everyone honest.  Obviously everyone  wants to be part of our next Flag!

Thanks Fence, for another captivating summary.

Thanks PF.

youve taken training reports to another dimension.

were you viewings from an elevated position? What security measures were in place.

i do love the fact that there is training with intensity, that seems to me the realisation of requirements of premiers.

I haven't been a huge wrap for our depth heading in to this year. Almost all of our top picks from recent years are were in the Premiership team and we only bought in Dunstan. Apart from Bailey Laurie and the first year kids we haven't got many top picks in reserve.

Then I remembered I wasn't a huge wrap for Sparrow or JJ, and Petty had missed an entire year and had barely played. Seeing and reading the intensity with which the boys is training is starting to make me think we might have a few surprise packet players ready to come in and impress if needed.

DeeSpencer I'd suggest looking at other sides lists to get an idea of how good our depth is.

There is no other side with as much depth as we have and in every position on the ground covered.

Really the only spot we don't have multiple ready to go options is the ruck...... but then no other team has the number 1 ruck and an upcoming ruck who will probably be top 10 by the end of 2022....

Answering a few enquiries, Joel Smith played well in defence and Moniz Wakefield has been training really well. Not quite as prominent today. If T Mac is injured Id almost go with MAJAK. Interestingly Clarry, Jack V and Tracc ALWAYS play in the same teamtoday it was blue, also tellingly Lever and May also only play in the same team and today it was Red.

You cannot get into the ground so my view is always from outside the Fence looking in at ground level. Would LUURVE to sit elevated in the stand but No Dice with COVID. Two other people were watching training. Cheers PF

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
