Tsatas highlights.

Few turnovers here and there and seems to rush it when he has time.

My preference in no particular order is Sheezel, Cadman, Wardlaw and Jhye Clark

I spoke with Harry last week and asked him what he thought about being drafted by Melbourne in light of the fact that we might potentially get an early draft pick in the Freo trade. He was a bit wary because he felt it was a tough team to break into but I think he was being modest. He’s a Hawks fan and would be thrilled to end up there.

Tsatas’ disposal, kicking technique in particular, is very iffy. His decision making also seems quite reactive.

Sheezel on the other hand is all class………….wow.

Think Mattaes Phillipou could be a good fit and potentially in our range

strong bodied mid/forward 192cm apparently a lot of similarities to bontempelli

Yep, he's the one I like Edm. Bottom ager. We're all experts at this stage and as an expert, I like the look of this guy.

He even moves like Bont. I believe he has the highest ceiling out of anyone in the draft with his combination of contested ball, kicking, decision making, and overhead marking.

I find it interesting that the article last week mentioned that we are looking for a top 7 pick, I heard Jason Taylor recently say that he thinks there’s an even group at the top of elite talents and then there’s quite a drop off to an even pool of players. Makes me wonder who those 7 players are if the purpose of a top 7 pick is to guarantee one of those players.

Jimmy Toumpas says hello.

Tsatas has a far better contested game and has genuine speed.

the obvious concern on phillipou is that we currently don't have a pick high enough to get him and i'm always wary of drafting south oztrayans due to go home factor and the majority playing outside running games at local level that don't suit the modern afl game

If we don’t get the early young key forwards like Cadman and Gruzewski, Fletcher Hart might be worth a rookie opportunity.

Fletcher Hart
Club: Murray Bushrangers/Albury
Height: 200cm
Weight: 97kg
DOB: 01/07/03

A tall forward who is an imposing athlete, Hart is a mobile big man who presents strongly as a marking target up forward. He showed a thin slice of his potential when he took 10 marks and kicked six goals in a NAB League game against the Northern Territory earlier this year.

I like the look of Phillipou a lot. Reminds me more of GWS Kelly than Bont. Excellent vision and creates time and space. Bottom ager too boot

He's a smooth mover for sure and yep he just qualifies for this draft by about a week I think.

Chris Doerre’s October Power Rankings have landed.

In them you’ll find some new names emerging in the first-round calculations.

Voss as a 1st rounder???

Doerre likes to mix em up!

Edit. If 22yo Voss has been overlooked in a couple of drafts already, doesn't that make him a free hit to any club? Or have I got the draft rules mixed up?

This draft a very midfielder heavy draft, and I feel we’re currently served fairly well in that regard.

I think we should be targeting explosive pace to replace Hunt, and project key forwards & rucks.

But I like that we’re currently loaded for next year’s draft that has a deep top end.

South Australians aren’t anywhere near as much of a flight risk as those from Western Australia. The real concern on Phillipou is his disposal which is one of the reasons that he could slide below no. 10 in this draft.

Would the club not entertain trading pick 13 and future 2nd or 1st? Seeing as though we have two future firsts (2023) and two future 2nds (2023)...we could get higher up the order this year - given there's some F/S picks.

I know next year's draft is being touted as stronger, yet I'd like to see a better return on investment for losing Jackson this year.

We've got a good record of trading up/picks.

Oliver Hollands is the one for me - likely to be around about when we make our first selection at pick 14.

Reckon he'll get snapped up pretty quickly by either Geelong or Carlton before our pick unfortunately.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
