Ollie fan 3,672 Posted October 27, 2021 Posted October 27, 2021 So Daisy has been accepted into the Women’s Coaching Academy - The only one of the seven selected who is an active player and not a current coach or assistant coach. I am a total fan of her as a commentator; I think she is by far the best analyst of them all. Let’s hope she can end up as a coach, perhaps even the senior coach of our men’s team in due course? Or at the very least, as a strategist/analyst. 16 2 Quote
Demon Disciple 12,537 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 (edited) why not, she analyses the game a lot better than the vast majority of so called "experts" in the industry. But here's hoping she gets to play in our first AFLW premiership before venturing down the coaching path. People talk about the great culture we currently have at our club. Daisy is an integral part of that. Edited October 28, 2021 by Demon Disciple 4 Quote
#11-TonyAnderson 868 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 I think she could replace Mick Stinear at some stage and would be a great coach 3 Quote
Wrecker46 3,130 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 I would love Yze to mentor her and see Daisy be a force on the men's coaching team panel in the future. 5 Quote
Little Goffy 14,970 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Add to list of things that are close to inevitable and also very good. Not many things on that list but always nice to add something. Quote

Loved the way she explained to that buffoon BT that the reason why Langdon had kicked the ball past Pickett to the next contest (in the 3rd qtr) was because it allowed the defence to roll up and intercept in a much better field position if the contest was lost. On cue the Dogs win the ball back and kick it to just back of the wing and May intercepts. No wonder BT is limited to "wow" "gee" comments. In one of the other commentaries (Carey I think) it is mentioned about how disciplined the Dees are in not kicking to the fat side where if they turn it over it is a much easier transition out for the opposition. Daisy has a great understanding of all this and is very good at explaining it. 5 1 Quote
Maldonboy38 6,435 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 To be honest, it is possible that in the long term, she might be the first woman to coach an AFL team. You have to be slightly insane to take it on, and I don't know if she has the madness, but she has every other attribute. Quote
Dingo 1,183 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 YES Daisy can be the Senior Coach of the MFC. She is as smart as a whip! 1 1 Quote

vans 32 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 She is without a doubt one of the hardest working players in either AFL or AFLW, she knows football as well as anyone i have spoken to, given time, encouragement and the right environment and she could easily be anything. It would be a crime if we didnt offer her a job as soon as she hangs up the boots. Quote

Less aggravation doing commentary. Equally though, she wouldn't be doing the course if she didn't have ambitions in that direction. Edited October 28, 2021 by bing181 Quote
DubDee 26,682 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 No doubt she will be the Coach of the Demons W team before too long. Has all the tools and is a pioneer. She would be throwing away a fair bit of money in the media though, her role with 7 will only grow. A woman coaching an AFL men's team? it's hard to imagine but things change huh? obviously no reason why not but it'll take some time for that to happen I reckon Quote
Demonstone 23,587 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Joyce Brown, who coached Australia in netball with phenomenal success (and is the mother of former Carlton player Fraser Brown) was at one stage in the 90s being touted as a serious candidate for coaching an AFL team. 1 Quote
FritschyBusiness 1,478 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 She can do it all, She is an absolute superstar 1 Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Her insights are top-notch, she obviously understands the game but we don;t know if she'll be a good coach yet. Eventually a woman will break through and coach a mens team and I would love if it was Daisy 1 Quote

Dees_In_October 3,515 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Aside from her obvious acumen in football strategy, I think she's also got the other key (or perhaps even more important) ingredient of the people/relationships aspect of coaching. The number of players on our AFLW list and, in fact, in the AFLW at large who are there in some part because of Daisy is impressive - not just in the general inspiration sense but because she actively recruited them. She's obviously very capable of sharing a vision and getting people on board to fulfill a mission, surely a major part of coaching. In a way, because of how women's footy has developed, she's been a coach since her days at Darebin. Also is very astute in dealing with the politics involved in being a figurehead, being the first, etc. 2 Quote
Jaded No More 68,976 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Being a senior coach is as much about managing people as it is about tactics. If she ticks those boxes, her gender becomes irrelevant. 1 Quote
Wizard of Koz 1,212 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-f6pzQQObc&t=112s 1:13:45 Clayton mentions that they spoke to Daisy Pearce during the GF and helped with stoppages. If so she should be on the mens coaching team asap. That was amazing insight if I heard it right Quote
demon3165 2,865 Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Have no doubt she will end up coaching, her comments in the third quarter I think where a passage of play with Landon running with the ball and had to choose between kozzie short or Tmac long even that muppet BT just said wow and she was right.
