7.25pm next Wednesday for sure.

Hawthorn and North fans are pretty worked up already, and Geelong fans have never worked a day in their lives let alone up.

Given WA is a two team town, what's to stop Freo and WCE doing a deal which seems lopsided but with a player.  Not unlike Freo trading Lachie Weller to the Suns and receiving pick 2 a few years back.  eg

WCE trade pick 2 to Freo and in return Freo trade 13 and Player X (an average player).

WCE and Freo "try" to do a deal with Melbourne but can't come to an arrangement by the end of the trade period.

LJ says to Melbourne he's really sorry but he is homesick - it's not his fault that a deal wasn't done.  LJ goes into PSD and given he's already moved to WA, North don't pick him.  So WCE get him for merely a pick slide (or whatever the deal is) and Freo boost their draft hand.  Everyone wins... except us.

We would say they draft tampered but they say we just don't appreciate the value of Player X.  Given the AFL turns a blind eye to teams that do dodgy things, they would probably waive it through.

Could that happen?

If all those shenanigans occurred, I'd hope Jackson put his home sickness aside, returns to the MFC and tells the two WA clubs to shove it.

But neither the scenario you posted will occur nor will Jackson ever return to VIC.

There is a reason we're after Grundy and it's up to us to get the best possible deal for us, which at the moment is looking like Freo's first round pick and future first rounder.

It’s funny as I also put Rowell in the same bucket and he’s had a few extra years in the system (admittedly some of it injured)   . Dominated junior footy, but his impact on the game is not as good a so thought it would be.

Injuries and COVID-19 absolutely killed him. Would have him at Deez in a hartbeat - happily give up an early first rounder for him.

He's out of contract.
That's the key part of why we hold less leverage than say North do with Jason Horne-Francis, who is under contract and they can therefore hold him to his contract.

Sorry, I thought we had him for another year.

So, given that, the other teams make offers for him and we accept, or he goes free agency in the draft and the AFL give us some compensation.

Melbourne is being urged to accept Fremantle’s best offer of pick 13 and a future first-round pick for Luke Jackson and get on with the business of securing Brodie Grundy.

Fremantle has made clear its best offer of those two first-round picks will not improve as it attempts to hold its line and still secure the brilliant hybrid ruckman Jackson.

West Coast has publicly stated it is still in the race for Jackson as it moves towards splitting its No. 2 pick for the Power’s No. 8 selection and a future first-round pick but all roads point to Jackson arriving at Fremantle.

Fremantle’s view is that very few players are worth more than two first-round picks without a rival handing back a second or third-round selection.

Yes, get a one year contract and play for more finals action. We are in the "sweet" spot with our club

That would absolutely be treated as draft tampering and there is no way the AFL would go along with it.

Nearly there.

He will go into the Pre-Season Draft where WCE will take him at PSD2.

We can play chicken if we want to but are we really going to say no to ND13 and ND14~ just to make a point?

I doubt it.

More than happy to tip in a future 2nd, just give us a proper first round pick

Send him to draft, stop making it easy for these young players to leave.

We give them the basics and have them as development that they take, and run home if their "local" team pays enough, otherwise back to draft and end up anywhere.

I think the AFL has to offer more compo so as to facilitate these freedom of movement and employment contracts.

So an original pick 3, plus the development goes for less.

Ridiculous clickbait journalism...you posted exactly what I was going to. Absolutely nothing in the article relating to the "urging' in the headline.

This deal will get done and freo will improve their offer. I think it will be done tomorrow or early next week

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
