Grow up mate.

The bloke won a premiership with us, have some respect. Have you never changed jobs in your life?

I have, as would most people. But I’ve never had my mummy call the shots & make my adult decisions for me. What pathetic grown man can’t live just a several hour plane flight away from their parents. Christ people earning $50k a year live in different states & clearly manage.

Signs you may be experiencing Oedipus complex as an adult could include an unexplainable sense of dislike toward the opposite gendered parent.

LJ is not like that is he?

Oedipus, Schmoedipus: as long as he loves his momma.

I agree but many don’t. Clearly MFC think it’s an option otherwise they would have bought in Grundy already.

Grundy hasn’t been done, because Pies are hoping for more than 27.

What an insult from Fremantle!

They need to give us a fair deal.

I certainly would ask West Coast what their best offer would be.

Gee with all the wild speculation on here about devious bluffs and ploys  to " hurt" WC and/ or Freo " off the trading ball" so to speak you don't think we have simply made those sorts of enquiries some weeks ago?

They knew he was going well before the season was over I reckon.

Ps they don't " need" to give MFC a fair deal.

Freo need to get it done though

And they will, they just got three  2nd and 3rd future picks.

Probably throwing them into the mix to see if there's a way MFC can trade them up to more advantageous picks and  get some player they have identified with better prospects than his current  reputation suggests.

That would be time better spent than fantasy games and more likely to be happening  as well imo.

It would still be a dirty deal and  "unders "though...  which has always been the case

our hands are tied.

Don't quite agree with this - sure, we're limited in options, but Freo are heavily invested in getting him. They lost Hogan, Lobb will leave this year or next, and he's the long term solution to a partner for Darcy and some firepower and flexibility up forward. That gives us some leverage at least.

Apparently they're not keen on using him as a forward but more so as a big bodied mid/ruck hybrid.

A deal will get done. We won't like it. It will get done though.

Given that is Freos plan..it really means our trade isn't about pick 1,2,or 13..

It's how we get that big bodied mobile ruck...it really means two players.

That's why Jackson is so valuable

Apparently expected to go through after weids trade

We could be trading out the two worst marks at the club on the same day

13 isn’t worth a great deal in this draft. And for the sake of next years which will most likely be around 13. I’d just let Jackson walk through the PSD, or enter the National draft. At some point teams need to set a strong precedent, especially given the increasing movement during trade period. The option should be 1. A fair deal, and 2. No deal you don’t get Jackson. I don’t really understand why football clubs don’t see the bigger picture and set stronger precedents.

what a disappointing rubbish deal that is

what a disappointing rubbish deal that is for us.. Not even a top 10 pick. For al lthe talk of a generational player, rising star etc and we are doing this deal early without making them sweat.

I don't get it we had Cerra wanting to come to us but we didn't have a high pick. Now Freo have no top 10 and don't have to come up with anything. two late first rounders. What a joke.

This is the bit that hurts if this is what the trade turns out to be.

yep. mind u we would have been stoked if we’d gotten Cerra that way. I hate this current trading system. Sadly we were always  on the backfires  when he was out of contract.

The swap of later picks referred to is till likely us trying to get a future 2nd added to the deal. 2 firsts were always on the table and we aren’t moving Weid just to get a third rounder back from Freo.

From The Age.

"Freo will be inclined to add a future second-round pick to the two first-round picks if they get a selection back from Melbourne, such as Essendon’s future third they receive for Weideman, or the Bedford pick."

So will probably be something like 13, F1, F2(freo) --> Jackson, Bedford pick and/or F3

I think we will now see a strong draft pick hand next year and salary cap room, as well as slightly improved picks this year.

Unbelievable &  the current system that’s sees a club get shafted and lose a premiership ruckman whilst both player and freo get what they want!

Agree.

We didn't both at least giving the Cerra deal a go. Almost like we conceded defeat the moment freo wanted a top 10 pick for Cerra. We could have moved our first first around potentially? But we simply didn't bother.

Oh well, can't say this trade period has all been that positive to be honest.

Losing a fair bit of depth for no replacements in sights.

Confused with the direction of the club now after hearing Tim Lamb laughed off at suggestions that Weideman would NOT be traded and that we simply would NOT except anything for Jackson other then at least a top 10 pick.

Confused.

Assuming we are receiving Norths f2 it seems strange that it's reliant on an Essendons f3 when our f2 is a better option for them. Perhaps we will be receiving Freemantles f2 instead or we've put our foot down and said the best we will give back is a f3.

So could end up something like 13, 13, 30 for Jackson and 40 (weid or bedford)?

Does this also mean we are trying to keep picks in each of the later rounds to trade one or even both of our future 1sts? I hope we keep at least 1 first round pick for next year.

I don't think that's what happened.

From memory, Cerra's agent told him Melbourne were interested but he didn't see how they could do the deal, Melbourne said 'don't worry about that', but Cerra (and his agent) thought it safer to just nominate Carlton.

Of course, the 'don't worry about that' stuff could have even been linked to Jackson. Who knows.

Freo got us over a barrel as they know WC want give up their pick 2

I wonder hie Jackson is feeling knowing the crappy outcome for the MFC

Thing is LJ was at peak value at this time last year. He had just won the rising star and played well in a grand final win. We could've gotten cerra AND around pick 8 from freo with maybe a second rounder going back there way.

Cerra, 8 --> Jackson, second rounder
