Farewell Luke Jackson

If this trade doesn't end well for the Dee's, I wonder what sort of reception Luke gets when he's back at the G? Not that he'd give a rats [censored]

The “Salary Dump Scenario” has changed the dynamic of trading, completely. Look at Jeelong with pick 7

Freo do not have the capacity to deal for LJ, by design or by choice. Jackson has not nominated Freo, he has nominated WA

If we cannot negotiate an acceptable deal to WA, then we should be able to negotiate a short term contract with him.
It’s not as if there is bad blood between us.
The AFL must rewrite the rules for trading. The landscape has changed

Can you trade for the no.1 pick in the PSD? I don't think its ever been done.

That way if he goes there, we can just draft him back :)

There is still a chance Dogga will be a Demon in 2023 according to the Demons calendar on the AFL Store.

At this rate, I’ll be a HEAVY chance of throwing a lot of darts at my calendar during March

If West Coast get picks 8 and 12. And Freo can't get a top 10 pick. Here's the 2 scenario's IMO. Which one is better??

WC - Jackson.

Melb - 8 + 20 + 26 + 2023 WC Round 2.

(I've added in 3 x WC 2nd rounders as I don't think we should accept only 1 x 1st rounder with only 2 x 2nd rounders. This way WC keep pick 12 and get Jackson).

----------------

Freo - Jackson.

Melb - 13 + 2023 Freo Round 1 + 2023 Nth Melb R2.

Wet toast will give us 12 in that scenario, not 8 as it still trumps the Flogmantle offer even with 12 in it (and we’re in record as saying ‘best offer wins’)

12, 20, 23, 26

13, 13, 20

fairly similar i'd say.

Lousy Smarch Image

He's not going to West Coast nor coming back to us. People are losing their minds.

Not a pleasant one. I’ve said from the start his departure has been handled poorly. Started with his Mum’s silly post on Facebook

That would be right, he is on the March calendar, and missing in the later season months

If West Coast are splitting pick 2 for 8 and 12. It could surely only be for making a play for Jackson. They could offer unders and still we may bite, as Fremantle are apparently offering unders. Instead of walking Jackson we could just take WC offer of unders. This may be what WC are seeing as a good opportunity to get In a top 3 level talent for big unders.

Can we play him in the WAFL and collect the money in a brown paper bag for each match he plays 😎

Every Year next year’s draft is always the stronger one, without fail

Disagree entirely.

Next year's top 10 are much more highly rated and the top 5 especially.

Aside from Ashcroft this year, there are no clear standouts.

One example, happy to provide more!

Pure speculation at this point in time…

West Coast are the problem they are a shambles. Gave the world for an ordinary player in Kelly but won't give pick 2 away for Jackson. Why do they want to divide pick 2 just to show how retarded they are? There is a player in Jackson that would automatically improve the side and they don't want him. Second worst run side in the comp behind Essendon.

I believe the Footy Dept are extremely happy & positive about Van Rooyen, in fact they believe he will be a very special player, however, don’t expect to see him this year.

Joel Smith is currently training as a Forward, and there is growing interest in retaining Tomlinson and playing Petty as a forward.

Smith is a very iffy forward showed more down back thought he would play as the 7th back with the luxury of using him forward.

Tomlinson won't get a game completely useless that's why no one wants him. Turner will get a game way before him very backward thinking by the football dept is thinking that way. van Rooyen has to be unleashed to good not to be unleashed.

Think Freo have already offered that and we have knocked it back.

I recon if they can't get a first round pick inside the top 7 the dees will ask for:

13 + 29(Bulldogs for Rory Lobb) + 2023 Freo Rd 1 + 2023 NM Rd2

Which I'd say we would jump at.

All the reports have said that freo haven't budged on their initial offer, and are refusing to put NM F2 on the table. They're not going to bend over backwards to satsify us.

He either goes to fremantle for 13 and F1, or goes to west coast in the PSD. Those are our two options at this point until WC actually make us an offer. Talks of a four way trade that would net them 8 and 12. Maybe we'll finally see an offer from them after that trade has been done.

Fremantle won't trade Lobb (or Meek) until Jackson is locked away. Talks of 13, 13, 20, and 29 is wishful thinking. Talks of WC offering their future first is also wishful thinking. We're probably looking at 13, F1 from freo or 8, F2 from west coast at this point.

Not what they were saying all day on trade radio today.

They were saying they have offered it and we have knocked it back.  It Has also been reported all be it by Garry Lyon that he won't go to the PSD because he does want the best for Melb.  How much truth there is to that I dunno.

Freo will trade Lobb,  they are just trying to drive the price up, no way do they keep him, he is the type of person that will walk away for 12 months.

Alot of stand off's happening atm and some has to budge soon.  I hope its not us

Freo won’t want to lose out. The scumbags made a commitment to LJ and are really dragging him through the mud.

Hopefully his manager realises the magnitude of his f up and advises LJ to consider discussing options with WC. Also they should flag publically that he’d be happy to extend with MFC if a deal cannot be reached as opposed to the PSD.

This should have been the play from day 1.

Why has his departure been handled poorly and what would have you done differently?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
