Just watched a interview with Gawny and unfortunately I now feel 99.9% certain Jacko will move on.  Why? Just the ‘vibe’ of how Max responded to questions put him.  I just so hope I am wrong.  😢

It’s ok. We can enjoy the next 5 weeks and celebrate a pretty hectic and hellish 3 years.

Sadly, I agree. Max seemed to have an air of resignation.

Fantastic leadership and culture, if the players know this, have accepted it, and have a mindset of “let’s enjoy our last month or so together”

His performance against the lions displayed evidence that we should get the best out of him, if he only has a few weeks left as a demon - a credit to Jacko himself, his teammates, and the culture of everyone involved.

But for the rest of us, it's going to be like the Wiz all over again. Watching him star against other clubs in a Freo jumper and, worse still, like Jeff, star against us, and all the time wishing like hell that he was still ours, and thinking: "If only ..."

IMO not really.

The Wiz never helped us to a flag or two 🤞

If we win this year and Dogga leaves, what reasonable person wouldn't wish him well at a new club? Except against us, of course!

Opinions on 'protocol' please.

Should supporters boo a player at age 22 when he returns to play your team, after he has helped land 2 premierships and chooses to go and be employed elsewhere?

I would never BOO a bloke like Jackson.  Never.  I can think of a few from other teams though who would be fair game.

No chance in hell I'd be booing him.

Maybe hold up a sign saying 'Jack$on' but not boo.

We're in seventh heaven.

Jacko here to potentially win another flag with us and then he leaves and we top up our list with another draft of young high end talent which will only help our chances of competing at the top for longer whilst our core are coming into their prime to hit their prime.

I don't think supporters realise how good this situation is for us with where our list currently stands.

I think Freo are paying way overs for a player who in my view won't be what many believe and they or West Coast will be paying up big time for him.

It's an unbelievable position to be in, I have no emotion in regards to him leaving. Wish him all the best. And already can't wait to see what we'll do with our list for the 2023 season.

Somethings not right here, 3 weeks ago the press were 100% he was going to Freo, now apparently WC are a big chance, seems to be really enjoying his footy at MFC, I think the press know jack s . Also wonder what sort of advice he's getting from his manager.

The press as such Know nothing We must be patient

Ideal Jacko commits next week and really pisses Freo and WC off. Then a clear run at finals where he stars

I don’t disagree with you but given the choice between the mooted picks and players I would prefer to keep Jackson.

So people are ok to be disappointed.

I've always believed he would not leave given the bond with the playing group and the unique opportunity that is in front of him at MFC - however watching that interview has me doubting him

If he does want to run home hopefully we get fair compensation which must be two picks inside 10 if you ask me - anything less and we've been stitched up

I hope Luke isn't underestimating the scrutiny that he will get in the small bubble of Perth - it want be the seemingly happy go lucky lifestyle he seems to enjoy currently

The problem with all that is we have no idea what would be coming back our way - at this stage what I've heard mooted is peanuts

We are masters of draft pick flipping.

And we'd already have plans in place for all scenarios.

Brodie Grundy and flipping our hand to two picks inside the top 10 for Jackson would be taking the mickey.

And the chances of that happening are very real.

If Jackson gets a multi million dollar deal especially at his young age he will definitely come under public& media scrutiny every game he plays. He's living in a bubble over there.

The life he obviously loves in Perth will be gone. Does he realise this.?

Farmer was half the player at Freo that he was at Melbourne. Pretty sure privately he's quipped he should never have left.

l dont like to say it but it seems its a lot to do with money ... he is an easy going kid not sure being away from WA would be that much of a concern to him ... hard to knock back those mega deals not unlike the Boyd and Rankin deals.

PS. Going to wait for this thread to be labelled 'HOT' before coming back again

If you'd said to me 5 years ago that you can have a top 5 pick, he'll help you win 2 flags and then he's off - I'd have taken that every day of the week.

Of course we really want him to stay but I'm sure it's not just about the $.

Family and friends live in WA.

If he goes I'll always celebrate the last 3 mins of the 3rd qrt of last year's Gf and hopefully his efforts in this year's.

Yeah, I kind of agree. He probably loves Perth and would love to be with his family. Who in their right mind wouldn’t accept big $ if offered, and the sweetener was to go back home. Besides, he already has one flag under his belt, something most AFL players will never achieve.

3 years of footy in a pandemic may not have given him the opportunity to form an attachment to Melbourne, and develop relationships outside of the club. And the bottom line is, not everyone likes living in Melbourne. I didn’t, that’s why I moved.

I don't see the correlation between Jackson seemingly happy on the footy field and staying at Melbourne. It's in the club's best interests to keep Jackson in a good head space, because we'll reap the rewards for the remainder of the season.

The club and his teammates are probably past the "is he going or staying" stage, and just want him playing good footy.

Karl Amon had a blinder in his last game, then told the club he's leaving a few days later.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
