Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Remember this the club that demanded and got pick 2 for Lachie Weller and pick 5 plus another pick for Cerra.

What does that make LJ worth, as a 20 year old ruckman, rising star and premiership player?

Well that depends on how hard we will push them, and tbh I don’t think we will push that hard. We always say we are fair etc so will  be interesting to see our stance on this.

If you combined the last 3 years drafts together imo Luke Jackson goes number 1 so surely he is worth at the very least pick 1 or equal value to pick 1

I really can't see how Fremantle is getting a deal done off their own bat through draft picks they currently hold.

Rory Lobb is definitely leaving Fremantle for the Dogs so what ever draft pick is afforded to them will be forwarded onto us or packaged up with either a player or another pick for a higher pick.

Fremantle if they lose to the Dogs on Saturday Night will finish 8th and hold  pick 11 which is a start.

A future 1st rounder might be around the same mark give or take or maybe Freo might pick swap to get gain higher access to a better pick.

Clearly this is not enough, does a Griffith Logue get offered to us in this deal? Does he suit a need for us?

Iam of the clear standing that one of the picks that we receive needs to be in the top 5.

How they do it I've actually got no idea but they have got to understand he is the best player of his draft so a pick close to his original selection needs to be adhered to.

So at the end of all that i hope the club are strong willed on what they will accept in return for the trading of Dogga.

If i were JT i would be pushing for a top 5 pick, future 1st rounder or a player (Griffith Logue) and in return we Give Dogga and a 2nd rounder.

Yes but Freo don't have pick 2 or pick 5. I'd prepare to be disappointed as frustrating as it will be.

Nick Daicos goes 1 and Jackson is not even close. I'd take Sam Darcy at 2. And there are numerous other players that have played more consistently better football than Jackson, such as Serong, Young and Noah Anderson.

Which is immaterial if Fremantle's contract offer to Jackson, in years and dollars, is well above what all these other players would expect. The offer is what largely determines the trade value and bargaining.

Unless Jackson is happy to go to the Eagles, Freo are not in a bidding war with anyone. What people perceive his trade value to be and what we get, is likely to be totally different.

The reality is that Freo won't be able to acquire a top 5 pick, so a top 15 pick, a future 1st and a fringe player is what I'm expecting.

Jackson would be very very close, as a tall he's a far more enticing pick than Daicos.

I'm not allowed to comment on a player we're allegedly chasing? You better let the Mods know, so that they can delete the other 1000 posts about Grundy.

How can they be incorrect when neither of us know what the final trade for Jackson will look like? I'm betting that I'm closer to the mark than those suggesting that we should get a top 5 pick.

We are all spit balling here Mo nothing is absolute, it might be we get their  2022 1st pick, future 1st round pick and a player plus something going back the other way.

Point is though the club should be busting Freo's balls for due compensation especially for the contract length and worth.

Agree Chook.
Whenever LJ plays a15 disposal 20 hit out 8 tackles 6 score involvements anda goal with 5 marks he has an impact far greater than some smaller midfielders as he directly assists our mids with these possessions in a better position for scores and goals.

He also negates opposition players with his competitive game and general run on ball skills. He is an elite midfielder with a great on ball game who rarely fumbles and is generally in the clear when he releases the ball.  It his quality and clean skills that set him apart from many mids running around today.

‘grundy was blown away when he meet with key melbourne figures’

It is the $ figures I am far more concerned about.  If Colonwood pay a good portion of his salary then maybe .. and the remaining (is it) 4 years is also a concern.

Don’t worry about it mo. There will be a sliding scale.
If we are parting with a first rounder for Grundy that will mean we are paying him 2/5ths of bugger all and the Pies are stumping a fair % of his ludicrous salary.

On the other hand if we are throwing them a late 4th rounder for the inner city, tree hugging hipster, then our salary cap is going to be taking far more of a hit. No doubt it will fall somewhere between those two scenarios

I'm not fussed about the $ contract per se.  Lets say it averages at $700k per year which is about what we would pay Jackson if he signed for the another 2/3 years.  But then Jackson's $ would probably be closer to the $1.m mark

There is more to add to this but I'll put it in the Grundy thread to avoid diverting this thread.

Yes but WC do, so maybe it’s LJ that will have to be a little disappointed, to get back home, but not necessarily to the club of his choice.

We don’t have to do any deal and I don’t think clearing our most exciting young player for unders is really on our radar.

I would be confident we know who and what we want we want at this stage and unless Luke and WC are prepared to shaft us in the PSD, we should not buckle.

This bloke has been described as a generational player and he is now a premiership player as well and he could be a 12-13 year player for the Dockers.

We can’t allow him to go for unders.

We shouldn’t and won’t, if Grundy says it’s Dees or I stay.

Grundy staying, plus likely De Goey too, probably stuffs up their whole trading scenarios.

They are even into Billy Frampton, so it suggests they have factored on Grundy gone.

If the perception starts to take hold that Grundy is coming to us then it makes it easier for Dogga to leave. He can rationalise in his mind on the basis we have a capable replacement coming in.

Prefer if he stays but Grundy is a good option if the price is right

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
