Sprung!

To me we should get the best deal possible for Jacko, as much as I’d love him to stay if the kid really wants to get home what’s a 2 year extension going to do, he’ll be going as a 23yo better player.

As for Gus get the job done, draft pics are good but you sign up blokes like him

Hes part of the fabric of the the club

irreplaceable

I'm going to do a search for 'best possible deal' in this thread. It might break the search engine.

Is he a vic boy? If so I definitely would be.

I'm sure we'll be doing our due diligence on all players like Amiss and others that could potentially be part of a deal.

Have only had limited vision of Amiss but he seems like more of a leading/separation forward and not really a contested mark. We've got a few of those already but he could also be a decent long term prospect.

Probably a long shot given his age, injury and home town, but get the impression we'll be key forward shopping this offseason.

Totally agree he's likely a longer term prospect, but don't mind the idea of him in a combo with JVR down the track.

Nup, Perth... 😬

Is about to sign a new contract extension.

I'd say with Gus signing it is highly likely we have upped our offer a bit knowing my namesake is gone.

I reckon Lloyd Meek will be part of the deal to partner with Gawny, but we will probably also want a top 10 pick plus another pick late 1st early 2nd.

Imagine now the club releases the statement that LJ has signed a 2 year contract with the dees.

I could actually see it happening, not sold on anything yet. So many were giving up on Gus and look what happened.

If you recruit a player and he leaves after two contracts you can stomach it, but when they leave after one contract and you deliver them a premiership, it hard not feel hard done by.

This. There's a fair correlation between the Dogga is gone group to the we are rubbish group and the Gus is going group.

The same people complaining that the Gus contract was too long will complain that two years is not long enough.

i find it easier to stomach, as the ultimate has been achieved.

Second time he’s shared contract news on his IG story, he’s just done it with Gus and he did the same thing when Clarry re-signed.

Could mean nothing and Luke is certainly a different cat, but it does seem a little odd if he’s out the door.

Freo has one tall forward on its primary list under the age of 29 ..... Jye Amiss. Freo probably aren't going to trade that player away.

Can someone who can open this give a brief summary?

Are they still confident of the double?

If they are not going to trade a player then draft picks is what they have left. I would start at 2 first rounders.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
