I really thought he was good today. Battled it out when was clearly buggered. Played against a really big opponent and kicked a ripping goal in the last to bring us back into the game.
He is 19 ffs!

100% agree mate!!! I wish we could trade some supporters

I'll take the two first rounders thanks.

I’ll be doing cartwheels if we got 2 first rounders for him.

Would be absolute day light robbery.

While he was ordinary today, it was actually one of his better games of the year.

With our poor forward conversion and injuries to talls, he should play permanent tall forward if Max is ok after the bye break. He’d get a few free kicks per weeks purely from defenders [censored] themselves at his height or athleticism. If he could stand up and CHF it would do us a world of good. He’s needed more there than centre of the ground IMO.

Sorry he’s 20. Most 20 year old ruckman are dominating. You’re right. We should trade him for sure.

I couldn't disagree more. i'd suggest Luke Jackson would be one of the most valuable players in the competition trade wise, not just because he's already a premiership player and rising star winner, but his potential is almost endless. he's 20 and good enough to be a number 1 ruck in a top 4 side.

Losing Jacko would really suck, but i have a level of confidence in the fact if he did leave we'd be compensated pretty well and Jason taylor and co would be able to use the early picks we'd likely get to really re-set us to stay near the top for a long period of time.

If we had two KPFs who could hold down their position, it'd be a great luxury to be able to try Luke through the midfield. He's so good when the ball hits the ground. Fumbled a bit today, but practically everyone did.

Am surprised we haven't at least tried him as a deep forward and just give him the opportunity out of the square one on one similar to Max King.

Once he gets a good leap at it he's usually a good mark.

He looked dangerous forward.  Should've kicked two.  I thought his effort in the ruck was poor today but just goes to prove we all see things differently.  Posters I respect on this board thought he was ok so there you go.  I don't think he's been great in the ruck since his game against Gold Coast.  At the moment we are crying out for a decent key forward.  Let him settle there for a bit.

He was exceptional. A 20 year old ruckman, standing up on the big stage again.

Bring on the “supporter trade period”

I think this too. We are in need of a key forward and we have one that played his junior footy as one. Not saying we put the ruck development on ice  but maybe have him play 80/20 forward and only give Max the chop out when he’s on the bench.

The main problem is that simply he is not a good mark .He has not been a one grab mark ever since he came into the side and his marking is not improving with the gaining of experience,His signature grab is the two bite mark often following a one handed attempt .if you are not a clean mark you will not make it as a key forward .

Fair point

Beg to differ. His marking method is the double grab, which makes it easier for opponents to spoil.

So you're both saying he halves every contest and brings the ball to ground...

A big improvement currently on everyone bar Max. A problem far lower in the pecking order of current ones needing fixing.

With time and dedication to the one forward role, he might even fix it in front of our eyes in the next 3 months.

Didn’t say “every”. But that’s a nice glass-half-full view.

With time and dedication he could turn into a one-grab marker. Mind you, he’s had the time already.

Perhaps it could be clearer: time and dedication to the 2nd tall KPF role in place of Mitch Brown or Weid, with minor stints in the ruck. He would have the next 3 months to hone his marking craft and leading patterns alongside Ben Brown. At the very least he's contesting and bringing it to ground more often that not. I believe he's had close to zero time in that role, save for a few matches earlier last year when I think BBB and Weid were both injured.

Weideman has been in the system for 6 years and still struggles with this.

Best game for a while, thought he battled really hard. A little up and down this season but tracking nicely overall.

No one is expecting him to dominate.

Gahd damn Demonland is the place for wild exaggeration.

If two first round picks (1 inside 5 and one inside 15) are up for grabs then we take and run.

Genuine marking key forwards are our issue and will be going forward. Stop gap ruckmen are easy to come by and we'll have Gawn for another two or three years.

Jackson will be a great player. But he will never be worth two top end first rounders. And that's what West Coast will be willing to pay.

This is about sustained success. Not a flash in the pan grand final. I want to see us compete with the big boys for a number of years. A year of pain won't matter if it gives us multiple future years of flag chances.

Can only assume this post is a rev up. Wont give it any more credit than that
