Way over rated right now, if we can get 2 first rounders we should run for the hills.

Use one on Mac Andrew and the other for our midfield depth. We fall off a cliff with Oliver and Petracca neutralised and need more talent in the guts.

His contract situation is a distraction and impacting his form. He should sign up and focus on his footy

The [censored] returns.

First post since the season began. Fifth post since we were behind in the Grand Final.

Honestly, the worst thing about a loss is seeing people like olisik return.

Thanks Werribee. Agree pick 1 is exactly what we need right now. Midfield was putrid with sick Petracca and Oliver tagged.

He's always with us he's Picket when we win and Olisik when we lose. Jackson will only be a run of the mill ruckman made to look good by Gawn make him a CHF and leave him there.

His Chris Dawes mark 2 in the air right now. Cement hands, one of the reasons we lost today was the 4 to 15 contest marks by the 3rd quarter. To think his trying to hold us to random on his contract, either sign up or [censored] off I say.

Take 2 first rounders to the bank, we see time and time again teams picking up ruckman on the cheap, it’s about time we did it.

Geez this is an ordinary take, anyone would think you're an undercover port supporter with this kind of uneducated, irrational rubbish, honestly i hope it's chemically induced because if these are genuinely your thoughts you may be beyond help.

Sorry but can you fug off? Haven’t seen you around once since we won the flag and went on a 10 game winning streak. We lose one game and here you are like a bad smell.

Look the kid is 20, he is coming off a season where he won a premiership and played the game of his life in the grand final. The following year is always the hardest to back up but yes he seems to have lost a bit of his magic. His marking hasn't really been there and his tap work has lacked a bit of polish, but I'm sure he's working on t.

Is he worth a million, no way and if west coast or freo are dumb enough to do it then good on him, let him go. I don't want to lose a young and up coming player because we can't fit him in our cap.

But I'm sure Luke and the club will hopefully come to some arrangement.

Guys, I can tell you that right now the Club is not overly confident that Luke will re-sign. Personally, I assumed Luke would certainly stay for 2/3 more years of fun, before even considering a move, however, that is far from certain.  I can tell you that the absolute appropriate person within the footy Club told me today that they are only mildly confident that he’ll stay.

I was thinking today if we had to lose one o Jackson or Brayshaw i'd nearly rather lose Jackson, as talented as he is Brayshaw has become a legitimate star and so important to our culture.

If that's your opinion WD then why haven't you dropped Dogga in any of your missing Team Selections that have disappeared.
Obviously  you haven't watched the GF the North game in Tas and at least 2/3 other games when Jacko has been the start of our comeback to win games. Oh and his 2 blinders vs West Coast.

Yes LJ could play CHF for a role in running around the forward line but not all day. He is best released and is a match winner on the ruck/mid role.

He needs to start solving his career issues ( if he has decided or not) and magically his good form will return.

Remember  the D/Lers who wanted to clear Clarry Trac and others when they were not happy where the Club was well this is the same  The grass  in the draft is always greener!! It isn't really only if you get the picks right or you can trade intelligently.

At the start of the year I would have said the opposite and wanted Jackson to stay with Gus leaving.

Now it's me wanting Gus to desperately stay. Not only is he in great form but he's super important for our culture and leadership.

@JimmyGadson made a really good point few weeks back. Losing Jackson isn't exactly going to be a significant loss as some may think. Yes I'll be disappointed if he leaves, but it gives me greater confidence assurance that Jason Taylor will find another top end talent with the compensation pick we get (1st rounder).

To stay around the mark we need to continue to find ways to regenerate the list with top end talent. Personally I think a gun midfielder or another key position tall forward would be my number 1 priority.

Losing Jackson would definitely set us back development wise. We’d need to start development of Gawn’s heir from scratch. Whoever that player may be isn’t even on the list yet; the only other ruckman in the list is 31 year old Majak Daw.

How is the 'situation' impacting his form?

See I beg to differ.

Losing Jackson wouldn't be ideal, but I don't think it would set us back significantly as some may think.

Gawn is contracted until 2025. If we were to recruit another ruckman through the draft or trade whoever that is, still has 3 years to develop under Gawny.

The way i look at it is this;

Geelong lost GAJ at the end of 2010 and they went on to win a flag the next year.

Hawthorn lost Buddy after the 2013 flag and they went on to 2 more flags without him.

I highly doubt it'll set the club back because I would back Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb to make the right choice with from list management point of view.

Good morning EO. Did you go to the game with your 6yo?

Dogga is wrestling with a decision to stay or go. It’s a big life decision. Consumes energy. If subconsciously (or indeed consciously) he’s not fully committed, then very difficult to be at your best

I think signing and committing can only be a good thing for his form

I agree. I'd trade Luke out for Meth Coke's first round pick in 2022. I would also require their first round pick in '23, '24, '25, '26, '27 and '28.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
