Far out. He is going from $200 to $700. Surely he can put a deposit down for a house for his parents now!

More to do with his brother than his parents.

What's the vibe, Beetz?

Lots of people overseas refer to it as AFL. Gives me the $h*!t$...

In Western Australia they call it AFL a lot. Seen lots of local clubs put signs at sporting grounds advertising for players to play AFL and they call themselves “AFL” clubs rather than Australian Rules Football clubs.  Then again, many out west and east consider Western Australia as a seperate country.

Very close to his family, in particular his brother.

In essence, our offer isn't that much different from Freo's.

Freo - $7m over 6 years + $200k x 1 year equates to $1.03m per year over 7 years = $7.2m

Dees - $4.1m over 5 years. If his salary in years 6 and 7 increases to $1.3m = $6.7m

But my question is, how do we fit an extra $500k into this years cap? Or will it be extrapolated over years 2-5.

but you are assuming the figures above have any truth in them   ("got the mail from my mate in wa" yeah sure, must be right)

So get his brother a job in Melbourne. Jacko can buy a house, they can live together.

Unless his brother is in mining, it wouldn't be too hard to pull some strings and get him settled here.

True.

Maybe his brother doesn't want to move to Melbourne?

Wonder what the endorsement market would be worth to a player like Jackson in WA.

What are the rules on having a guaranteed right to be traded if asked. Say... you will trade if I ask at the end of year 3 to a club of my choice in return for a draft pick in the first ten.

Add that clause into a three year deal of say $550k per year and everyone's happy

Not sure why he wouldn't.... being from Perth it is a pretty boring place for a bloke in his early 20's.

Glad I moved to Melbourne!

Left Perth at 24 and my whole family live there.... I'm allowed these comments 😜

Dogga didn’t do much to claim a big payday on today’s performance. Or last week’s for that matter. Very ordinary, I thought.

If only we had more anecdotal evidence to go by.

Would delist

Last night I spoke to someone very close to Luke Jackson that told me "he's definitely not leaving Melbourne".
Can't say anymore than that, I don't care if people question my legitimacy. You can take it or leave it, I'm not fussed.

I have no concerns with Jacko leaving atm and I'd say he is weighing up whether to go for a 2/3 year deal or the full 5 year deal.

His manager would know that his overall pay packet is more than just the salary he receives from the club. If he wins more flags the players get bonuses, plus the exposure of playing in big finals will bring about great marketing opportunities for him.

The other benefit is being in the largest footy state in the country, which furthers his profile.

Jackson knows that if he stays at the deees, he could win 2 more premierships.

He understands what's required and he has the desire. What more motivation does he need to re- sign ??

More pineapples on the contract.

I just can't see him leaving a top club right in their premiership window that's absolutely full of young blokes of a similar age group.
Be a fun place to be right now.
Doesn't strike me as a bloke motivated by coin.

Always gets me how the seppos call their domestic competitions ‘World Series’, their comps don’t even take in a whole continent.

It was named after the sponsor "The World", which was a newspaper at the time.

Only two?

You're so pessimistic!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
