adonski 13,267 Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Anyone know the Canberra Times' strike rate? This is in the Canberra Times, article published this afternoon: "In more good news for the AFL premier, grand final hero Luke Jackson will sign a new deal with Melbourne soon. Jackson, who is contracted until the end of next season, will commit long-term to the Demons. The West Australian believes his future is in Melbourne and he will be joined by his parents in Victoria." https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/7464063/the-chase-is-on-to-catch-the-melbourne-demons-in-2022/ 8 3 6 1 Quote

I can't believe what I am seeing right now. Premierships, superstar players developing before our eyes, AND not looking to go back to their home states (Yes, I'm looking at you Scott Thompson and Jeff Farmer) I could get used to the new Melbourne. 4 Quote

The article is from Monday arvo, feels strange if true that no other publication is running with it if true, hopefully it proves correct in the coming days 2 Quote

All once in a generation type players, all in the same team at the same time, and they’re playing for us! I gotta throw Lever into that mix as well. He had the best year an intercept defender has ever had in the history of our game 3 Quote

Looks promising. CT is actually pretty reputable. "Howard Kotton has been a journalist for 43 years, working in various parts of Australia and overseas on assignment. He has spent the past 13 years as a senior journalist with the AFL Record" 3 Quote
Cheesy D. Pun 1,765 Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 I'd rate the Canberra Times ahead of most mastheads in Australia. That said, when something is printed in the paper without qualification (an out for the journo, so to speak), you can be fairly confident that they have good info. Despite popular opinion to the contrary, explicit falsehoods in the news are very rare. 1 Quote
