Perhaps we should go with what has worked best in the past and pick someone called Christian.

Does that mean we use the pick on the Pope but with his age demographics probably wants to go to Geelong anyway?

Would love Sinn if he makes it down there. I still think that Wilmot is the guy we take unless someone drops. Wilmot is a Taylor and Goodwin player through and through

Agreed.  Unlikely options (unlikely to be available) are Andrew, Sinn, Sonsie or Goater.

Likely available options possibly are JVR, Chesser, Roberts or Wilmot.

Knevitt seems like a Goodwin type

There's extended footage of Goater where he looks a bit like a Sam Frost midfield equivalent

Not sure if he slips down to pick number #17 in the 2021 AFL National Draft but I am definitely keen on the Demons grabbing Josh Sinn from the Sandringham Dragons.

Here is a news story about him: https://www.afl.com.au/news/574499/no1-draft-pick-contender-josh-sinn-piles-on-13kg-in-six-months

13 kg in six months - sounds like me in lockdown 🤭

There's probably a joke about Christians and Sinn to be made, but it's not as if I'm the type to do that.

As I recall there was a Cardinal Sinn in the Phillipines a while ago

Indeed, the Cardinal of Manila was Cardinal Sin. I still remember that at the same time there was another public figure in the Philippines by the name of Miss Concepcion.

Chesser's teamate in blake howes likes good too ,  190 cm forward / wing , my first thought after seeing his highlights was he moves a little like fritta .

I think we could do with another med forward especially with Melksham at the end of his career

Sorry not sure how to post his highlights

I'd be happy with whoever we go with. Taylor has a track record you can trust. If your looking for depth in positions we need a ruck, key forward, midfielder and back pocket player.

At least you've narrowed it down :roos:

One side advantage of holding a pick inside 20 is it slightly increases the chance of Andrew falling out to 21. (We won't get him otherwise.)

As a hypothetical, what happens if we use 17, then Mac is available at 21? Do we have the points to match or will we need to make a bunch of draft-day pick swaps to make it work?

We may be able to game the system if Mac is still available at 17, which will be 19. Bid on Fahey so GWS match, then we have pick 20. Select who we want then Mac can be bid matched. Very unlikely he is not gone by then though.

I don’t think that’s a likely scenario because by 19 GWS doesn’t have any picks left to go before 20 anyway. There’s also a chance that GWS won’t match themselves.

Think we’ll be close or be able to swap a future fourth rounder to make it work. It will also depend on where Woewodin goes. I don’t think it matters that much if we get pushed back a pick or two next year anyway given we have already traded out of the first round.

Mitch Owens, 190cm wingman, tied to Saints NGA, projected 15-30 range

From those highlights: fantastic overhead, good agility, skills a bit suspect.

Agree. It's bloody tough to judge with such limited footage though. Even some of the more highly touted picks have only solid highlight tapes given the lack of games.

I think we will likely go for one the rated talls KPP's if we see some slippage at 17.

Would not be surprised to see us package up our 30's and 40's pick to move higher if there is slippage for a player we want.

Given the number of available list spots i would not be surprised to see another delisted player picked up for depth.

I'm still keen on Josh Sinn with pick #17 in the 2021 AFL National Draft.

Here is his highlights package shown below.

However, until it is closer to the Draft at the end of November I really won't know who we will look to pick.

Either way, I have faith in Jason Taylor finding another gem for the Demons.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
