This is spooky. I was given Bob Murphy’s book a few years ago, but didn’t really feel like reading it at the time. After we won the GF I picked it up - I think I probably would have felt jealous reading it before then.

Here’s how he describes the moment he knew the Bulldogs had won the flag. How those words came back to haunt the Bullies six years later.

It's like James Brayshaw has ripped the heart of out of Bob Murphy like Kano in Mortal Kombat!

Is this Beveridge saying his team thought they had the GF won:

"I delved into the reasons why the season ended so dramatically, and probably traumatically, a little bit," Beveridge told Melbourne radio station SEN.  "I think you can dream a little bit, and think you're on the dais when you're up by 19 points in a Grand Final, I don't know whether that happened (to the players)."  did-dogs-dream-they-were-on-the-dais

It looked like the coaches also relaxed.  They took Bontempelli off and he didn't come back on until after our 3rd goal in a row.  By then the momentum was with us and we went Bang! Bang, Bang, Bang!  Game over in a flash.

How good is the word "unfurl"?

Never had cause to use it so much before!

My kids asked me what unfurl means!

Bizarre approach by Beveridge.

I recall an interview with Goodwin that he was still a nervous wreck with about 10 mins to go the last quarter and was still coaching fairly hard.

If a coaching is getting complacent then that filters towards the playing group.

I just watched the PF Dogs and Lions and we should have played the Lions, the umpiring, particularly in the last quarter was deplorable, not sure how many times the Doggies threw the ball and got away with it. Also with about a minute or so left McInerny got done for blocking in the ruck when he extended his knee but it didn't impact the other player and it was merely a "you shouldn't do that free".

Speaking of Mcinerney, he was dominating the ruck and palming it down but in the last quarter he continually grabbed the ball out of the ruck and kicked it in to an opposition player, he was trying to win the game off his own boot.  The Lions panicked in the last quarter and they lost all semblance of teamwork and were just hacking the ball forward, they should have won easily.

Lions  were murdered by the Umps especially in the last half. This was not he Prelim Dante. Lions would still have had to beat Port at Adelaide Oval to play us again

Dogs played good Prelim Final but no pressure from Port.

Kenny H is on his last chance in 2022!

I've had a couple of Dogs supporters tell me they couldn't get their mids (Bont and Macrae in particular) back on the ground during that frenzy. I kindly tell them we gave them plenty of opportunities as they could have made changes after any of the goals we slammed through. Not to mention they had Bont, Treloar and Libba in the middle during our second Minute of Madness just before 3/4 time.

That must just add to their hurt and distress! Football is hell! GO DEMONS!!!

Bevo’s a bit of a dreamer, I wouldn’t read much in to it.

I think everything had been going the dogs was for 45 minutes. Bounces of the ball, umpiring decisions, kicks for goal. It’s natural that when things switch quickly you  get caught flat footed.

It took us a large chunk of the 2nd and 3rd quarter to really slow the dogs and then get it our way. Hardly a surprise they couldn’t get it fixed when they were smashed out of the centre in the 3rd.

The real indictment might’ve been at the start of the last quarter. If they change the tempo of the game and get 2 of the first 3 goals it’s a 3 goal ballgame with half a quarter left. You’ve got a shot.

Am i imagining things or have other runners up in previous, (err every) GF's given tacit murmuring to the "we won that game" really, but we didn't. Not withstanding the score line and the momentum change, along with the inevitable throw away the whistle earlier time frame, i am pretty sure their, FFC, collective heads were not where they should have been before the end of the third term.

That said, i would be concerned if every game we play this year would be tainted with the same type of immature rubbish dished up week in week out ad nauseum, so as the post game conversation is amazingly, around non player performances or lack of it..

Bont tried his heart out but he had many passengers.  This was clear to me as soon as Brown marked the ball from Tom Sparrows brilliant kick.  That was set up by great involvement from Salem, Trac, jackson and ANB.  Bont was a solo act.

Bont and Treloar were the standouts. Both played very very well and should be proud of their efforts.

Bont wins the Norm Smith easily if the Dogs won the game. He was outstanding up until the last 10 minutes of the third quarter.

Let them murmur it! Out loud even. Shout it to the heavens. Let it burn.

While they're doing that, they can multitask and go [word that D'land censor won't allow] themselves.

GO DEMONS!!!

Bont is a gun and I couldn’t see how Daniel got a vote ahead of him in Norm Smith!

In today’s HS…

I’ve already got seven copies of this and I haven’t even bought the paper.

Footy-wise, I’m the black sheep around here. Well, the red and blue sheep. 🙂Today is a continuation from the fortnight leading up to the GF. The elderly locals went nuts. Every day I’d be given anything and everything Dees from the HS and The Age and even the local Leader newspaper. And since I’m too polite to say, ‘Thanks, but I already have 48 of those,’ I now have enough to wallpaper my entire house. Twice. And still have leftovers. 😁

In a strange way I don't want the 2022 to start. I like being the reigning premiers. Yes I hope we go back to back but it's almost like I don't want other teams to take attention away from us. I'm already sick of hearing about DeGoey and Essendon when I watch the news.

Maybe I'm a bit nervous about what will happen this season and Wednesday night.

I'm ready for that next stage of the journey, where (hopefully) the legend grows and teams begin to fear us visibly when we're playing them.
