6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 all go to the club.

But if we need to do it:

6 - Petracca
5 - Oliver
4 - Jackson
3 - Fritsch
2 - Brayshaw
1 - Salem

I think that’s absolutely correct. Can’t understand how anyone could overlook the contribution of Jackson.

To beat the Dogs by 74 points with Gawn, Lever and May being quiet and Daniel and Bont playing well shows you how good our best players were and how deep our side was too. Everyone played their role for a decent chunk of the game.

I can't help but feel the Dogs put a huge amount of time into Gawn, Lever and May. To a small extent maybe, a degree of disrespect towards the rest of our team.

Riewoldt said on the post-match Fox coverage that we can beat sides in different ways. He's right. The simpletons in the AFL media think we're just a defence-first side who wins games based of intercept possessions. We're a lot more than that.

We've had multiple paths to goal (or to behinds) this year that's for sure and a nice mix between fast and controlled ball movement, ideally with some more kicking game to build on for years to come I hope.

But certainly the best thing about our defensive structure is it doesn't rely on racing up to force turnovers, nor does it allow teams free reign if they switch. It's so nice to see teams switch and get nowhere! The intercepting is plan A, but in forcing teams to kick it to strange spots they risk more turnovers. And in forcing teams to play their talls defensively they suddenly aren't attacking by definition. If Schache is just trying to hold off Lever then he's not marking it himself.

Apart from some quick clearance entries the only real weapon the Dogs had was using Bont as a marking forward.

Congratulations to our TEAM, including Goody and all of our off-field coaches and support staff.  It almost feels a bit unfair to separate a top six given the contributions of everyone across what has been a stellar season, but this is my crack at it:

6.  Petracca

5.  Oliver

4.  Salem

3.  Fritsch

2.  Gawn

1. Brayshaw

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
