The only one that played definitively poor was Rivers but he probably has enough credit in the bank.

Would absolutely love to see Jonesy as Medi sub for the granny. It's not easy sitting for 2 and a half qtrs before coming in, but Jordan seemed a bit off when he came on. Jonesy is next cab off the rank.

83 pts win says all that needs to be said regarding team selection.

Jonesy is as stiff as they come.

I sincerely say that with a heavy heart.

Cannot believe we are in the GF. They are so bloody hard to get in to. 1 more step to the top.

Jordon was pretty poor when he came on. If that's what Jones has to beat, I'd rather him be the sub.

No change but if May does fail to get up, I’d be very tempted to throw tmac down back and bring in Mitch Brown or Weid (can’t believe I typed that)

Unless May is injured, I'd say no change.

This really is our best side.

Isn't it wonderful to see the rapid improvement of a player like Sparrow. In years gone by, we'd look at a payer like him and wonder how on earth we couldn't spot him and call his name on draft day.

Slap your own face if you suggested he could be trade bait.

Jones flying home tomorrow morning, according to The Australian newspaper.

As much as it pains me to say, it's the right decision.

1. family first given his wife is due to give birth to twins.

2. He realistically isn't best 23

3. He is the ultimate team man and 2 weeks of "make Jones the Medi sub " talk isn't helpful to the team and he knows it.

Should have said, if May's injured, I think it will be Joel Smith (assuming he's fit). There aren't any other reasonable options.

Yes T MAc back

Port and Bulldogs score heavily from their small fwds.   Does Hibberd have the stamina for two games in a row?

I reckon Hunt is a genuine possibility.

Hunt for Hibbered.

May has 15 days to recover . He is the only player at risk from last night. However we should wait to find out   Whoour opponent is. 2 weeks is a long time and this thread could have a lot of wasted energy :)

There is a 14 day break..I suspect he would be fine.

He did look a bit puffed in the 4th quarter to be fair..

I'd prefer Hunt personally.

He does if they are 15 days apart. There will be no change if May is right. Only would be if they go Hunt as sub.

It’s such a hard call now because the club won’t know until the last minute how well May has pulled up. If he’s not 100% they will still risk him, but if he goes down in the first quarter again and we don’t have a defender as the sub, it could absolutely cost us the game. Especially against Port who has a very good forwardline.
Hunt has been there all year and got injured at a bad time. If he’s the sub, he can play a number of roles including down back, wing and even half forward as he’s done before.
JJ didn’t look super sharp last night which is to be expected. He’s been sub for several weeks for 0 game time and the game was done when he came on. Jones hasn’t played in what 14 weeks? It’s going to be that much harder for him to slot in as the sub.
I want desperately to get Jones and Jetta in, but I don’t know how we make that happen sadly. I wish we could hand them a medal on the day if we win. Both have done more for this club than many could understand. Their resilience and leadership is a credit to not just themselves, but also to where this club is at now.

Hibbo destroyed Cameron last night. Did his job. He plays unless injured.

Serious? He had 9 possessions in a quarter after sitting on his bum for 3/4. He was given a ranking ahead of 12 players who played the whole game. He laid 2 tackles and took 3 marks and got his possessions all over the ground,  by running to make position or contest. He will be in the 23. Sparrow had 2 more possies and similar other stats in 4 quarters. Not sure what more you can expect of a sub.

Hunt is possibly going to be the unlucky one .

Jones, just heartbreaking for him.

How much of the game did Hibbo play on Cameron? Cameron was basically destroyed. $1m a year for that effort. 2 first round picks plus to get him.

Yep. They gambled the farm. They'll be crying over those first rounders for quite a while

Not getting a medal on the day doesn't mean this wouldn't be Nathan Jones's potential premiership, and i'm sure they're saying that behind the scenes as well, we wouldn't be here without him, and seeing the team he played a huge role in saving win a flag is a great way for Nathan Jones to finish his career in my opinion.

But we have to win, and if Nathan Jones was best 23, he'd in in the team now,

I'm just about certain Steven May will play, and there won't be any changes to the team.

As soon as May went down injured, Petty went to Hawkins (and played an insanely good game, the kid will be a star!), Lever went to Ratugolia, Hibbo took Cameron, and fresh air played on Rohan because Rohan is scared of the dark and finals footy.

I thinkl May will be fine to play. Early this year Petty went off with  similar Hamstring tightness. Played the following week. May has 2 weeks to get right.

Probably to risky to swap Smith (recent hammy) for Hibberd. If May did not have the tightness Smith would have been seriously considered.

No change for me.

May’s body is going to get more attention than it’s ever seen over the next 15 days. I think he gets up.

Would be very hard to make any changes but Hunt/Hibbo could be a roll of the dice depending on matchups.

Was a brilliant team performance and any player that missed following it would be very unlucky

Channel 7 reporting that Jones is flying home to be with his wife before she gives birth.
If that’s true, I’m happy for him. He’s been the heart and soul of this club and he absolutely deserves to be recognized as a big part of our success, regardless of whether or not he plays on grand final day.
I wish him and his family all the absolute best.

Tmac could be moved back and Melk .

Joel Smiths fitness isnt guaranteed.

If ok then agreed.

But im hoping Mays fine and no change.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
