Best player in the competition.

Most wins in a season since 1956.

Defeated every side in the league (except the pies)

Can we keep it up?

2013 was better when Dean Terlich fished third in the B&F, it should have been our year we were just unlucky.

You could argue 2013 set up this year.

Not sure about best because I haven't been there for all of it but this is easily the most complete and true team effort teams I've seen in my time supporting this club.

I do argue that.

All part of the eight year plan.

Every club needs an eight year plan.

Sky is the limit with this group.  Youngest side to win a final since Bulldogs in 2016... just need to keep it together.

Easily

I know it’s sad that we can’t be there to watch them, but hopefully this is the start of a successful era.

Now THERE'S a reference to the past that was unexpected. Dean Terlich! One of Paul Roos' first decisions was to delist him, from memory. Boy, have we come a fair way since those days.

Always thought Matt Jones was stiff to just miss out on a top three placing that year. Goes to show the amazing depth we had at the time.

Best side we have ever had. The premiership is for ours to lose. I have faith in Gawny and co.

Have been watching football closely since 1994 and this team would smash every one of teams that have taken the field in that time.

The biggest difference is not in the talent that takes the field, but in the gameplan and selflessness of the players.

This is also the first team I have seen in the red and blue that has defence as it’s primary strength.  94, 98, 2000, 2006 and 2018 all had an exciting and attacking gameplans and mentality.  This was gloriously entertaining and exciting to watch, but was ultimately deeply flawed under pressure against the top teams.

This team not only holds up against the top teams; it plays better against them.

Personally the Mark Neeld years were easier on my anxiety. I knew we would lose every week. There was no finals stress.

From what I have seen possibly yes. I think in the midfiels and defence it is a yes but not the forward line. We have not won the flag yet.

Most capable and I would even say most lovable.

I really want them to win and it is even more than just wanting a Demon Premiership - I want these people to win. I believe they deserve it.

I agree with this!

Stress free football 2007 - 2016.

Two sides have made grand finals, win a gf and the answer is yes

Without waning to get ahead of ourselves, we were desperately unlucky that our 2 GF appearances were against possibly the two most dominant teams of their era playing hard brutal take no prisoner footy.
Both 1988 and 2000 we  fell into the finals without ever being considered by most people a decent chance.
2021 is very different.  We play as a team every week and if one has a downer, others step up.❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

I also thought Matt Jones was integral in our 2013 campaign to try and get a 3 win season.

I think this is the best team I’ve seen since 1990 but it will be so Geelong to knock us out in the prelim.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
