Viney - importantly found form

Neal-Bullen -season best game

Brown - provided solid target

Salem - was rarely flusteredĀ

Harmes - played important role

Lever - steady and safe

Spargo - not his best

Rivers - calm and composed

May - dominated his opponentĀ

Jackson - had a presence

Pickett - couldn’t get involvedĀ

Ā

Ā

McDonald -allowed others spaceĀ

Ā

tmac played his role, took a defender and competed. You are way off on this.Ā

What's going on with Tmac?Ā  Almost replace him with Melksham at this point..

At least he kept Andrews out of the game.

He was back to slow old Tmac

Needs to give a bit more than that, but on the bright sideĀ  -Ā  plenty of upside

Please, anyone can 'take a defender' and allow others space. Ā  He's not a decoy, he's there to kick goals.Ā  He was well below his bestĀ and barely got near it.Ā  4 possessions from a roaming forwardĀ with his tank is not good.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Fritsch seems to play decoy some weeks and he is our leading goal kicker. Selfless footy is standing us in good stead.

Ā

Pretty spot on tonight Joeboy. Hopefully TMac picks up in the Prelim.

You know, players don't have to have high statsĀ Ā to play well. I watched TMac tonight and he played an important role in clearing space, that is what makesĀ a great team, like when Gus was getting low stats, but played the defensive wing position and the sacrifices he made were so important. I give the whole team my 3 word analysis.

Ā

Great team Effort

He is an absoluteĀ [censored] on the field. Pseudo tough guy. Hitting guys who don't want to retaliate and get suspended.

PS. How does the word id iot get censored?

Pickett - goal of the nightĀ

@BasherĀ wondering what you're laughing at?

I thought Rivers looked a bit nervous early in the first, with some uncharacteristicly rushed disposal and position, but settled well and played his role.Ā

Of all Joeboys 3 words it was the one I didn't agree with.

McDonald - Important to Structure

Cmon he was average at best, I’d replace him for the prelim, he’s got to do more than be a decoy.

Melksham or the Weid for mine

You want to bring Weideman back in for a prelim when he hasn't played since Queen's Birthday?

No way. It's not happening barring injury.

Melksham at least has been in the seniors at some point in the last 3Ā months.

There are a lot of punchable heads in the AFL. But this guy is not only a complete nuffyĀ he’s also a bloody average footballer. At least Toby Greene is a gun.Ā

You're very agressive tonight Jaded! Relax and stay positive.

I’m very relaxed in the knowledge that Brisbane tried being tough guys but got taught a lesson. Yet again.Ā

Yep, and not unexpected either

Big occasion player as he possesses an important quality - Class.Ā  In his element tonight

His deft touches, knock ons & release possessions were immense.Ā  High IQ player.Ā  His wing was often the attacking aspect tonightĀ

I had him as one of our best players tonight along with Max, ANB, Clarry,Ā  Viney,Ā  Petracca & Salem

Gawn was B.O.G ... the man is an absolute warrior.Ā  What a player & leader!!

Anyone who thinks Brayshaw is a poor player has no idea. This is by far his best season ever. 3rd in the Brownlow can get stuffed. Give me 15 years of this from any player and I'll be rapt.

What we now know about Brayshaw is that he is the ultimate team player

He's a natural onballer/link player/released player who is needed to shore up a wing in a defensive role.Ā  And he does it without any fanfare

But tonight was different ... suddenly his wing became an avenue of attack and Gus was front and centre.Ā  Kudos

We had many good players tonight but a few who have previously copped flak shone through ... notably ANB,Ā  Viney & Gus.Ā Ā  Rivers was back to his better form as well.Ā  Looked assured all night

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.Ā  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.Ā  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.Ā  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.Ā

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
