I must admit I was in the no rush category to get vaccinated.

But now I have have had my first jab and scheduled for 2nd in a fortnight.

I'm much more concerned about missing a MFC grand final than catching covid.

I am getting jabbed on Sunday but due to the timeframe involved won't be double jabbed before any Grand Final, not that WA would let me in. If we do make it and win, would be happy enough for my GFG to be transferred into DemonShop Credit aha.

For those in Vic, are there any states that will allow you in? I’m thinking some of the VIPs could travel to an interim state, spend the required time there before heading to Perth. Obviously would only work for those who don’t have day jobs and would have to start the process before knowing if we’ll make it…

The only state that will let us in is NSW

We are high risk Do Not Enter status everywhere else.

Without getting ahead of ourselves, a question that should probably be considered is who will present the Premiership Cup if we were able to win the flag in Perth? That is, presuming Emperor McGowan maintains his current position of allowing nobody other than players and direct support staff into the state.

Some possibilities include Shane Woewodin, Earl Spalding? Not sure of any other notable ex-Demons players currently living in WA at present... maybe Nathan Jones, presuming he won't be playing, but flies over as part of the extended squad? (that would be weird but not necessarily a bad idea)...

I like Jonesy if he’s not in the team. Deserves to be on the podium but probably won’t get into the team. Given the current situation this is the year you could do something like that and it not be weird.

It would still be weird, but stuff 'em. As long as Goody doesn't give his coaches medal away like Beverage did (not that he would - Goodwin has far to much sense for such a silly display).

This - why can’t proven double jabbers only be admitted?
Medicare status is on my phone. Mandate mask wearing.

Makes no difference Vax doesnt stop you getting Covid!

You've made your choice and that's fine but I would have been royally peed off if you were in the queue yesterday ahead of my 24yo daughter who has waited all this time for the recommended vaccination.

How about we deal with the misinformation without the aggression. I hope your daughter got her shot. We will all be getting booster mRNA's from early next year anyway. It would have been nice to have been told that earlier.

Really, I hadn't pegged you as ageist. Misinformation is everywhere and I think it is important to point it out.

Yeah, how about it eh?

At the very least, he would be at the ground. With WA Govt restrictions on non essential people (player's partners, non core club staff etc), he'd be available and a good option (if he's not selected).

McGowan can get stuffed. Don't host any finals in W.A. Come home after the game demons.

Surely while we wait to see what happens with these truck driver cases the teams should stay in SA?

Have given up on coming home, too many unknowns, and today the internet servers died at the office/guest house, limited bandwidth and no live game tomorrow, the horror, the horror….

Yes but Jonesy should get in ahead of Vanders no matter what.

Sounds like WA will be fine and the story was a bit overblown. The truckies only visited 1 spot and the contacts are also now in isolation.

No doubt the GF plans will forge ahead.

Gillon the Gullible has been well and truly conned by the Emperor.

In fact don’t allow WCE or Freo to play at all next year without a guarantee of open borders and no lockdowns.  A 16 team competition would allow a more nearly equitable draw … and lessen the go home factor for Jacko and Riv 🤗

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
