Max kicking the winner has to be a sign.

It is! And for me, it’s a sign that I need to shut up on game day thread, because my team will put me to shame. They made me look stupid, and I deserved to be made to look stupid as much as much as Max Gawn deserved to kick that goal, and the umpire who gave that out of bounds not officiate in any finals.

Wow wow wow FMD that was amazing. Love the Dees. This is the year. I can't believe how I went from despair to jubilation in the space of an hour.

Dr Mclelland - you are ours!

Trac being interviewed on Ch 7. In tears.

I am now a believer.

That is all.

FCS Perty put your foot down mate and make sure that first final is here!!

Gonna be tough when cases near 100 tomorrow

Thats the first time ive seen Max spend more time looking at the goals when kicking instead of the ball.

Captains goal to save the season.

That has to be one of the best wins at kardinia or anywhere.

We are the real deal.

My WhatsApp group all went to bed at half time. Sat downstairs on my own and thought ‘here we go again’. Burst into tears when the siren went. No one to celebrate with but I cried happy tears. So proud ❤️💙

What an incredible win, the boys look absolutely pumped. So many games this we've faced adversity and come out on top, let's go the whole [censored] way!

Is Goodwin the right guy? Hell yeah.

Same. My dogs nervous.

Roped the dopes.

Great momentum and belief to take into the finals.

Top of the ladder, woo hoo.

Has any team come from 44 points down at Geelong and win? Not for many years if at all.

But I had hope late in the third quarter.

I've been watching this team for a long time and until now had only experienced a win that good in my dreams

Captains goals don't come much bigger than that.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
