That's the way I see it.

If Dogs beat Port or bad weather, there could be a change though.

He was peeved off at Spargo for a pretty ordinary kick which should have hit him on the chest.

Disgraceful brain fade from an ex Captain and leader.

It's interesting that Goodwin specifically mentioned Viney would be back, but May and McDonald would put their hands up for selection. I reckon we might keep our powder dry and see if we can beat them with our current forward set up (so minus McDonald) and potentially keep Smith in.

I’d agree with you Adam on Smith who I thought was excellent, but Goody wasn’t OTT with his praise for Smith in his post match presser. My take was he was disappointed with Smith cramping up in the 3rd and the lengths they had to go to to get him back out on the ground. I think he’ll be dropped for May.

I thought Smith found himself constantly out of position. Outside of a few aggressive intercept marks early, I thought he undermined our defensive structure repeatedly. I just think there's a chance we keep May out for the extra week.

Not sure I’d like to see McDonald miss 3 games & then have to go straight into a final ?

Going off Goody's comments on AFL 360, we'll be playing our best side to win. He was pretty big on momentum heading into finals.

Did though say that if players were sore then they would be rested.

Willing to bet Bourke Street to a Brick that the final team will be selected after the Friday game.

Goodwin was very clear 'sore' players will be rested, but the one's on the field will be playing to win, a nicely mature response.

BTW Sub text from the interview on 360 is they care more about venue than crowd. And after watching the souless game vs Adelaide there was no problem with team spirit, since we can’t go, I'd prefer to play where we go best and players get to rest at home.

I agree with Tmac, May and Viney back for Sparrow and Melksham and Smith. But I would also consider Harmes for Jones.

Also did anyone notice Garry L's driveby on Melks? On the couch they highlighted the kick into the stands, and Garry's sly backhander was 'it was his best kick'.

If Melksham had any chance of playing finals he gave it away with that petulant kick into the stands. He doesn’t care enough.

it’s a pity coz in the first ten minutes he looked a star. For the rest of the game he was missing

Hibberd was not fanatastic today but I didn't see anything wrong with his game.

If TMac is to come in could it be Melksham out or is it Jordon.

May for Smith and Viney for Sparrow are almost certainties.

I would like to see Viney play on a forward flank...

That's Melk, he can turn a game with burst footy but doesn't seem to be there over the full course of a game.

Melksham on what he dished up yesterday just does not deserve a game. Plus his undisciplined act when he kicked the ball out cannot be tolerated. He goes out

I was really surprised at his work before the kick came in too. He had ample opportunity to cut back into the centre of the ground which would have made Kossies kick easier. He would probably have had a shot at goal.

I think JJ is still struggling a bit. He is one player that looks sore and has lost a bit of explosiveness. I haven't looked at his stats for the weekend, the comment is more about his movement.

Rest Petracca, Oliver and lever. We won’t be playing at the mcg for finals anyway.

Whilst that may be so, a loss potentially consigns us to a trip to Adelaide to play Port, or to Geelong to play Geelong. There will be a crowd in Adelaide and possibly one in Geelong.

Depends a lot on what happens on Friday night, though. If the Dogs win, we can't drop below 2nd and therefore none of this becomes an issue any more.

Exactly my thoughts too. The club should dig their heels in ensure all they can to host week 1 at the G (if we finish top 2) rather than listen to Gerard Whately and most other commentators who are infatuated with crowds.

We finish top 2, we host at MCG as far as I'm concerned.

I would not risk T Mac until finals if there's any doubt with his back.

IN - May, Viney

Out - Smith, Sparrow

Hibberd's lucky that Hunt's injured

Melksham's lucky that T Mac might not be risked.

As a precautionary May should play in a gridiron helmet in case the one on the right gets unlucky again - the crystal ball fired up last night

Sorry if this has been answered. Are crowds allowed at GMHBA this Saturday?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
