I hope this isn’t the Last time we play on the MCG this year

Something tells me this might be the case SWYL. I hope the situation in Melb can get better for all the diehards who have shed blood, sweat and tears for this club.

Couple of things can come from this game.

1. Take back top spot and go into next week with more confidence, with 3 on the trot.

2. More touch for our forward half connection. I expect Fritsch to get on the end of a few today.

3. Oliver's game vis a vis the Coaches Votes/Brownlow.

How about a win!

May out and Smith in.  I wonder how early in the week Smith knew?  Good chance to give May a rest, and to see where Smith fits in.  I reckon Petty steps into the May role, and smith plays more of a hybrid hunt/petty role.  A good chance for all in such glorious conditions.

Today feels like a nothing game. We don't have to win, we just have to beat Geelong to finish 2nd or even top if port goes down the the Dogs. .

doesn't seem to be on ch7 in melb

anyone have any more info (other than fox/kayo)?

If Joel Smith leaks less than 3 goals, that’s a win. I hope he makes me eat my hat.

Seven are doing the later game.

No worries about giving Maysie a rest. I'm actually surprised a few other guys weren't "managed".....particularly a couple of the younger guys.

Probably be good for the younger guys to get a good run at the ‘G.

As long as it is just a well earnt rest and nothing more serious because no doubt that without May we cannot win a flag.

No May and no Tmac. Definitely not confident.

Good call resting May. We have Cats and first final coming up over a 7-8 day period and he’ll be cherry ripe

AND NO INJURIES PLEASE!

The over confidence of some on here who just never learn brings on my MFCSS severely.

We have seen over and over this season if you are off your game, you can get rolled easily.

I will take a one point win as long as we don’t cop any injuries.
Starting to cop a few and it’s a real worry.

Could be a bit in and out of this game at the start, a friend had a bad accident at work last week and ended up in hospital. We're finally allowed to talk with him on the phone so game on in the background and thread open :)

Don’t understand why Weid didn’t get a run. Right weather and down a couple of key position players.

Other than 'yuk', this has a touch of Shakespeare about it

Think his papers are stamped unfortunately for him.

Comments by supporters on a website have absolutely no bearing on how the team performs.

Which is the main thing.
More important than anything we need to go in with a fit list.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
