Tasmanian AFL Team

Featured Replies

What do Demonlander fans think of a new Tassie team?

Is a hot political potato down here as we come to an election. The Premier asked the new team to move the date of team launch - a week before the election - so as not to distract from issues.

People who say we should spend the money on healthcare and education do not understand the nature of politics.

They also don't realise that most AFLW players have 2nd jobs in education, nursing and other healthcare professions.

Most naysayers have likely never been to the G.

Well you know the game between the two teams will have sort of hellish twist.

Yeah look, Devils is nowhere near close to Demons.

It clearly refers to the animal. There is zero doubt in this, right guys?

Great name. Logical choice.

And oh what heights we'll hit!

On with the show, this is it!

Selfishly, I’m not looking forward to the drafting and recruiting chaos it will cause. The whole league gets shaken up to introduce a new team and I’m not in love with the idea of doing this for a team that’ll be all of the locals’ “2nd favourite team”.

Having said all of that, I think it is a wise choice for future economic benefit in the state and will benefit the next generation. Early years will be strange though.

Anybody want to bet against the Tassie team

a)  wearing a predominantly dark green jumper and

b)  being nicknamed "The Devils"?

Nobody took the bet.

I'm stunned at the latest news.  Amazed and in disbelief I tell yas.

With an inverted cross as the 'cup' and Slayer for the intro music 🤘😁 [I did go through a bit of a thrash metal phase as a teen] lol

F#@% Warner Brothers - that they could take out some garbage trademark over one of our national animals is absurd, similar to that of ugg boots (which will probably feature heavily in the official Tassie Devils merchandise).

So, really, on the basis of their shared "aggressive non-viral, transmittable parasitic cancer with lesions or lumps in and around the mouth," and their general demeanour, the natural rivals for the Tasmanian Devils would be...

Devils & Demons. Has to be a Good Friday game, surely? 😉

I'd have called them the Tassie Wild. Styled in the vein of the Minnesota Wild in the NHL. Their look and jumpers would have worked perfectly. A waste.

It's Game Day on Friday night. ANZAC Eve. The big stage at the ‘G. The Demons return to the spotlight for one of our most significant nights on the football calendar, taking on the Tigers in a clash that always carries extra weight given the gravity of occasion of the commemoration of the ANZAC Spirit. Under the lights, in front of a packed house, this is where moments are made. Can the Dees rise to the occasion and deliver on the big stage, or will Richmond spoil the night? All the build-up, discussion, and in-game reactions here. Go Dees.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
