Several poster not having Petracca in their top 6 is staggering to me. He was immense and critical to our win. His intensity around the ball. 7 clearances, 6 tackles. Fantastic goal off one step.

6 Oliver

5 Harmes

4 Jackson

3 Petracca

2 Gawn

1 Neal-Bullen

6 Petracca

5 Neal-Bullen

4 Jackson

3 Oliver

2 May

1 Harmes

6. Nibbler (produced one of his best game in his 100th)

5. Clarry

4. Dogga

3. Trac

2. Petty

1. Bowey (he’ll be our half back general for the next 10 years)

Harmes, Melks, Brown and Max unlucky

Would be interesting to see coaches votes this week. Oliver could just about sew up the coaches award 🤞

I came here to say this.

Also interesting to see whether the coaches rate the games of the big names (Oliver, Petracca) ahead of the ANB's and Jackson's.

Since coaches aren't as dumb or bias as umpires, I assume they will give Jackson votes and also ANB. Goody certainly will.

I wonder if Bont gets votes this week. He was very ordinary except when it came to winning golden frees.

Fantastic to see some of our lesser lights featuring strongly in the votes.  We are building beautifully, I reckon.

6 ANB

5 Jackson

4 Trac

3 Harmes

2 Bowey

1 Brown

Love these votes from Michael Lynch in The Age.  Great to see a couple of unsung heroes recognized for their performance.

VOTES
Ben Brown (Melbourne) 8
Tim Kelly (West Coast) 7
James Harmes (Melbourne) 7
Alex Neal-Bullen (Melbourne) 7
Jake Bowey (Melbourne) 6

I expect ANB and Jackson to get votes, it more about the order of votes I'm interested in.

Until the lightning break I would maybe have had my best 6 on ground as Petracca, Oliver, ANB, Jackson, Yeo and Cripps (in no particular order but with an emphasis on the MFC players). The surge after the break could shake things up a bit: we defended well (does Bowey/May come into it) do the Eagles go higher?

Brown was very good in those conditions and perhaps I've underrated him too. 7 marks, 6 score involvements including 3 goals and an assist, in those weather conditions was outstanding.

6 Nibbler

5 Clarry Choo Choo

4 Harmes

3 Jackson

2 Trac

1 Bowey

Apologies Petty, Max, Lever, May Brown

"1 vote...Melbourne.....S..........May"

"2 votes...Melbourne.....B..........Brown"

"3 votes...Melbourne.....C..........Petracca"

"4 votes...Melbourne.....C..........Oliver"

"5 votes...Melbourne.....A..........Neal-Bullen"

"6 votes...Melbourne.....L..........Jackson"

"The AFL apologises to, reading from the backline, J. Bowey, H. Petty, J. Rivers, C.Salem, M. Gawn, J. Harmes, J. Melksham and K. Pickett"

(Apologies to the tally room, too, if this cleverd***edness makes the count harder😬)

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
