GAMEDAY: Rd 21 v West Coast

Say what you like about Melksham (I’ve said a lot) at least he can kick the ball which is something we need.

Bowey looks like a 100 game veteran, didn’t see that happening so quickly.

It’s disgraceful umpiring, but we know that’s 90% odds-on to happen over there, worth about 6 goals a game. The bigger question is why we’re slowing the game down at the wrong times. No run-past, no quick decision making to expose their lack of speed. They also beat us in contested ball that quarter. Don’t correct that, we don’t win, particularly not with their crowd umpire advantages. Simples.

Oliver looks a little 50/50. Hopefully nothing major.

Great finish Pickett!!!

Need Tracc and Fritter to get more involved

Frisch doesn’t like playing in the rain, he gets wet.

Gawn needs to stand up big time and lead this team to a win. Been in a slump for too long.

Frittatas opponent is wearing him like a glove.

They would’ve identified him as our leading goal kicker and put some work into him.

We are completely and utterly reliant on Tracc and Oliver. We are an absolute rubbish football team without them being switched on. It really concerns me.

If either of them gets injured or suspended, we are a mess.

Those two need to pull us out of the hole again because the rest of our midfield are pluggers

Name a team that isn’t completely reliant on their two best players? It’s an odd thing to be annoyed about.

Luke Jackson is close to BOG. This is close to the best game I've seen him play at AFL level.

the second quarter was pretty poor. our players are too slow at moving the ball on. May needs to look for open players rather than kicking down the line all the time. we need to lift and lift badly. The umpiring has not been great, but what do you expect in eagle land. Too many of our players are not chasing and putting pressure on the eagles defense or midfield.

The more I see of Bowey the more I'm impressed. He just does not waste the ball.

We just need to get back to what we did so well in that 1st quarter.

One thing about Max.. he gets intimidated. Wouldn’t play him in the middle. Jackson a much better ruckman

Ridiculous comment.

Clarry and Trac need to lift otherwise we're not winning this game

To be fair, so does the rest of the midfield and forward line.

Have notice that. Has had no space. Sheppard is a good player.

His improvement has been great.

He's about 6 inches shorter with wet hair.

But we need to make sure he doesn’t get isolated in a one on one coz there is nothing of him and he won’t win many.

Not sure I like Kossie and Spargo milking free kicks Selwood style.

No way Kozzie milked that - maybe Spargo.

That’s some kick by Pickett.

Yeo tackled him high, ended up on the ground beside him. Rolled on to him and held him down for a good fifteen seconds.

It was a fantastic goal but geez that should have been fifty but the umpires are too gutless to call it.

Jackson playing a great game in the conditions , some good grabs and follow up ground work. superstar in the making

Yet the 100 gamer wastes it when he has to think.

Needs to get a few tips from Cotchin. His hair hasn’t changed for 10 years

Jackson and Bowey have been terrific.

I wish a few others would follow their lead.

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
