Geelong were always going to start feeling the pinch with injuries. Way too old. Watch us [censored] the bed now though that we've been gifted an opportunity to solidify both top 4 and top 2.

On the flip side of Taylor's brilliant game, Kreuger played one of the worst games of footy you'll see. That game would have made Isaac Weetra blush. He's a key defender in a top 4 team?

I reckon 10 years of playing in front of nobody is paying off now for GWS. They thrive in empty stadiums.

Real gold there.

Loved how the giants banged up the Cats, very good for us.

Always a beautiful thing watching Jeelong lose on their Government Funded Home Ground.
We have been given a real opportunity to take back 2nd spot

Exactly - just win, win and win (> top 2) , then win, win, win. (flag).

Very simple solution.

6 wins… no reason why we cannot do it, if our list is switched on and we stay relatively injury free

There won’t be a big crowd in Round 23.
Monday we should treat as a Final…

Yep. Up to us now. These are the games we lose when expected to win and when the ducks line up. A great opportunity and time to stand up and see how good you are Dees.

What a game. How good is footy!?

Giants on my count had at least 13 first 22 players out. And that’s being conservative.

geelong copping injuries. They were bad last week, worse tonight. Hopefully more of this to come!!

Why weren't we treated to a look at a sulking Chris Scott in the coaches box late in the game. When the cats are having their pants pulled down, that's always good to see.

That was a thing of beauty! Everyone wins when Geelong loses! I was actually cheering out loud for GWS in the final quarter.

Interesting stat. Geelong have only won 4 games against top 8 sides including the umpire robbery by 1 point against Brisbane and a lucky 5 points against Bulldogs. Their resume is well padded by beating easy beats in a dream draw and a dream home ground advantage. 4 out of 5 losses are against current top 8 sides.

As much as we like to portray GWS as a souless franchise, they really do have some ticker.

Their midfield mix is excellent too. Would love to have Isaac Cumming and/or Whitfield at the Dees. 1,700 metres gained between them tonight.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
