Bowser looks great and Dogga with 4 goals is turning it on.

What a difference kicking straight for goal makes!

Dom Viney.

That's harsh on Tyson. Don't think that even he got caught that often.

I do like Viney but he's just trying to do the impossible too often.

Good job everyone! except Viney you can rot in the 2's forever and Harmes you can do the same if you cant kick easy goals.

I’d like to see Koz get around it more. He just needs to get that spring back in his step. When he’s feeling dangerous opposition clubs get so nervous, and it’s great to watch.

You’re joking right?

He always got caught holding the ball, always.

FMD Garry Lyon is a miserable campaigner. Was a great player for us but not convinced at all he's still invested in the club.

The key to is and always will be tackling pressure.

Can’t fault much, but Harmes and Viney kill me.

Neither has learnt to take the first option and Harmes can’t hit a single target.

Really want to see them lift their game, as they should be copping a bake from Goodwin.

Loving the forward pressure. Brown’s looked really good and that helps TMac, Fritsch and Jackson get free and hit the scoreboard. Oliver incredible and Lever, Petty and May solid.

A week is a long time in footy huh. The confidence we’ll be getting from this is very important

For me I think this is Viney trying to find form. He has been injured and not in the team also trying to find match fitness. What a good opportunity to try and find some of that touch. He is getting the ball and once that confidence comes back he will be the bull he was again!

Feel quite bad for Viney. He seems so out of place in this team. Doesn't seem to be "one of the boys" and tries to do too much.

Also getting FAR better looks at goal, looking more shallow and straight as opposed to deep in the pocket.

Hes an absolute mess of a player.

Needs to FRO to Casey and learn to play football. This guy will kills us come finals.

The issue I have is Goodwin is unfortunately too soft to drop him.

Absolutely spot on comments as usual Dazzle

I’m not satisfied, half to go and there were bad habits creeping in at the end of the quarter. We have a big opportunity to get some good form today and get some huge confidence. That will all be undone with a mediocre/poor second half.

Yep spot on. BB50 leading straight rather than 45 degree angles into the pockets....who'd have thought!?

I'm not denying that but my point was that I didn't see him get caught at the same rate that Viney is today.

Anyway, Tyson's been out of the team for three years, so let's get back on topic.

Jones would actually be better than Viney at this point. Smarter with the ball and seems to be more adaptable.

Magnificent second quarter. That being said, confidence can be a double edged sword.

Dare and dash are required to open teams up. We have shown plenty of that. It’s manic, relentless and inventive.

It can also lead teams to unwise and presumptuous disposal. The Fritsch and BBB forward entries are case in point. BBB was right to be dirty on the former for torching him, and then proceeded to lose all moral high ground with that unrealistic shot.

Dogga is having a day out. The opposition isn’t overly organized, but you can only play against the opponent presented to you. He’s also fixed his kicking from beyond 35 out, which is a credit to him.

Bowey is a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t big on blooding more newbies leading into September, but he’s shown poise beyond his years.

Clarry may need to be the medical subbed off alas. He’ll be suffering from leather poisoning. ?

From now on all Melbourne players have to spend 8 hrs on a plane before each game..

I can kind of see his point about is it good to be playing in a game like this. I mean today looks cruisy but next week we will come up against the Eagles & it will be a completely different game

Should see if Geelong are still keen on Viney. Worth asking the question

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
