He did Captain the Filth. Many forget that.
i don’t think Williams wants to Coach again, but if Collingwood do snare him, it is understandable.
i just hope it doesn’t happen

Yze could only leave if it was a senior coaching position - that is usually the gentleman's agreement with club and coaching staff.  WHy would Choco go to the same position at another club?

A left field scenario could be to reunite Clarko, Yze and Williams and let Goodwin goto the Pies in exchange for Maynard. *sarcasm*

I think the "agreement" is that assistant coaches are not approached during the season except for senior coaching roles. I don't think there's anything that says an assistant coach can't move between seasons. After all, how did Yze get to us?

There is a better chance of winning tattslotto on Saturday.

Let's be real though - would a club like Collingwood risk going for an untried senior coach like Yze or throw their considerable resources at Clarkson?  I just can't see Collingwood taking a risk on someone untried, however talented they are.

That's a hell of a lot of pressure for an untried coach who hasn't been part of the club (Yze or Mitchell)

I can't see it happening either, particularly with the turmoil behind the scenes at present.

I would not be surprised if there was more to play out with the Mitchell/Clarkson handover, 2023 is a long way off

Yze would be wise to steer clear of the mess at Collingwood and Carlton. Neither role is right for him. Let Lyons and Clarkson take on those jobs. they have the experience and authority to re-shape those clubs. Yze doesn't. He'd be swimming in the shark pool. Plus who would have his back? Buckley had Maguire. He'll just end-up getting scapegoated and sacked and damaging his reputation.

Or Ross Lyon.

Didn't he wait 12 months till his contract was up?

I don't listen to social media, everyone is just guessing and between now and the end of the season everybody will throw their 2 bob's worth into the ring .

Fairy tale scenarios died out at Collingwood with Eddie.

If he goes he goes...he's not the messiah, just part of a good coaching group with us.

We look to someone else.

For the life of me I never understand how we over blow someones achievements to be almost god like when they are just doing a good job.

There will always be someone else around who can do a good or better job.

Just not the same...cut and paste this to the Burgess thread or anyone else on the way out.

Time will tell, Mark has been very beneficial to Clubs since he stepped away from the top job.
players love him

Nicely ambiguous. I assume you mean he's been successful as an asisstant rather than the alternative interpretation that players and clubs liked him better after he left.

He has runs on the board

Turned Dustin Martin into a Norm Smith Medalist

I have no idea why Carlton or Collingwood would go for an untired coach. The pressure is on both clubs to deliver and appease the members. Yze is not going to do that. You have Clarkson and Lyon available for the taking. Surely they are your targets.

I suspect Choco will be primed as 'past his use by date' for a senior role.

Plus Brad Scott, Michael Voss, Justin Leppitsch, Matthew Knights and others. Not sure if any of them are interested, but each should be better second time around.

Isn't Brad Scott going to the AFL?

But you're right, plenty of tried coaches out there who I think would be an easy sell for the members at both clubs. Can't see them going for a new guy. Too risky.

I think Brad Scott is already at the AFL as Head of Victorian Football (or perhaps something else). His name has been floated as a potential replacement for Steve Hocking but whether there's any substance to the idea or whether some working in the media were just spitballing I have no idea. (Imgaine that. The footy media making things up!)

Let’s wait and see how the remainder of the season pans out to determine how valuable Williams is to this group, and specifically whether he can guide us through this flat patch.

Williams has made a big impression on us all; however, my money and faith rests more heavily on Yze to direct us to a GF, a winning GF, and onward to greater success in terms of several seasons of great performance.

Marty Lyons has thrown his hat in the ring ah? Will give the club three pasted players in senior coaching ranks. A wonderful achievement.

I thought Scott did a wonderful job getting two c*&p Norf teams into preliminary finals. Must be able to coach.

This is where the NFL does it so creatively or has done in the past.

Coaches should be considered as part of draft value.

Patriots gave up a first rounder for Belichick in 2000.  How did that turn out?

Eg you want him Collingwood? Ok well, we could let him go for a early second  rounder.

Would be a great addition to our game i reckon.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
