All we need is a fit AVB between half-forward and half-back, rejoining the team as his presence does make us a better team; but importantly, we need a player of his type to assist clear a few pathways for his teammates and to de-stabilise some big personal opinions amongst the opposition, such as Bumford.

I would love Neville to be back to his old form.

Not sure how he would fit in but used to be such a star and a big part of 2018.

Vanders certainly gives us hardness ....a Grinter if you will but hes not silky skilled.

But like Jets he too has been a big part of our transition.

I'm trying to get my kids out the door for a runaround in the park. they're complaining like all hell about the cold. I hope your kids aren't as pampered as mine

We’ve got swimming lessons now, so should shake out some of the sillies!
They’re currently bragging to their swim teacher that they’re going to the MCG ?

Wouldn't be surprised if Vanders is the sub

Must win. I want top 2 this year. LESSGO DEES

Exactly. If we want to win a flag this year, we need to finish top 2. Finishing 2nd and playing Brisbane at the G is so much better than finishing 3rd and travelling to Brisbane.

Therefore winning a game when your $1.20 favs is simply not negotiable.

That was the style at the time.

Thankfully now the last world war is nearly 80 years in the rear vision mirror, you could tie a white one, and not just a brown one, on there.

Glad this game is starting at 11:45am Perf time.

I’m pretty dusty after last nights tipples that the hair of the dog can’t come quick enough.

Well, you learn something new every day…

I just did the unthinkable and used the public loo at Nth Melb train station.
I never knew toilet paper came in 1/4 ply! It’s like using gossamer.

Can't go today. Sick as hell unfortunately. First Melbourne game all year I'll be missing. Spewing.

Tigres spot in the  up for grabs today gives Great Waste of Space incentive and focus to get into the 8 with a win.

However i think we got them covered. Kossie is due.

Yes but so it was for the Bombers. If we play close to, or at our best we will win easily. Peeing down up here in Brisbane and can't wait to watch this game. Agree Kozzie is due and just trust we get a few supporters to the G today to give our team a lift.

Last week GWS were playing for a spot in the 8 and were beaten by the 17th placed Hawthorn. They weren't too incentivised it seems.

So glad we have Viney back to set the tone and help us stand up physically

Did it have that lovely plastic sheen to it as well?

Better than that stuff that came in single sheets about the size of a postage stamp and the texture of thin baking paper

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
