Gws song sounds like some throwback Stalinstic propaganda track to me.

Whenever I hear the GWS song, I can't help but think of this bloke dancing.

Ok so as much as I'm not a fan of the cats I hope they thrash the bummers tomorrow night. I do not want them in the 8.I

Id be rapt to see Freo in there, so I hope they can beat Carlton and stkilda knock off the pies.

I would only want Essendon to win to widen the gap between Cats and us, and the top 4, but as others have said a very dubious triple 50 meter penalty after the siren giving the Cats a one point win (or maybe a draw) would be schadenfreude.

I am absolutely certain that the independent and unbiased MRO will offer him a $1 fine, or totally ignore it.

I thought Essendon not having played at Kardinia Park for the past 28 years was a joke. But it’s not. Can someone explain why this is the case? And is it only Essendon who are in this position?

THIS

It really grinds my gears that the 'big' Victorian clubs have been protected from playing down there for years while we have to front up every year.  The argument about crowd size is void because barely anyone non-Geelong can get in down there.  Geelong gets an armchair ride and the big clubs get protected from playing at a ground where the home team have an obvious advantage.

Imagine scheduling Richmond to play down there.  If Hardwick the germ can't handle Docklands his head would explode at the thought of the hour drive.

I put a lazy $100 on the Tigers. Not at all concerned about my investment.  GC will run out of steam.

In regards to the conversation about which Victorian clubs play down in Geelong and why, I think it has more to do with whether the game would attract a bigger crowd and financial return if it were moved away from Kardinia Park to the MCG. As a guess this might be 65,000 for example. It's probably why Carlton have started to play games down there again recently as their notional home ground at Docklands has a capacity not much bigger than KP (and where Geelong would still make less money even if it were at capacity) and they would need to draw at least 65,000 if it were played at the MCG to make it worth moving.

I think if both us and the cats could regularly attract those sort of attendance numbers in our home games against them you'll start to see that we play down less often and some other schmuck will end up taking our place.

Its a bit too Putin the face for me

The only thing that would have made last night more enjoyable would have been Karmichael Hunt coming off the bench to kick the winner after the siren!

Honestly ground invaders should get $100,000 fine. Especially during Covid. What complete brain dead nuffies.

They probably couldn't pay the fine.

I would lock them up at the remand centre for 14 days and give them time to think about it and thereby deter others.

Listening to Spotify Daily Mix 2.

Duran Duran do a ripping cover of Lay Lady Lay (Dylan song).

I suspect that the above comment is slightly off topic.

Really nice cover. ?

I know we’re supposed to want Geelong to lose tonight but there’s just simply no way I can barrack for Essendon.

They make me ?

Too good to go out like that.

Would be a shame.

I am going to take a wild guess that Jack Riewoldt was an Essendon supporter growing up, it’s the only explanation I can find why he sooks so much. Seriously there was an Essendon supporter on SEN today still complaining about the umpiring on the weekend.

I hate Geelong just as much. I’m only going for essendon to widen the gap between us and Geelong

I also hate Geelong above all other teams that ever existed. And it’s better for us if they lose tonight. Sadly it won’t happen. You only think Essendon are great because the media is telling you they’re great. But they’re not.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
