THE UNIVERSE: Halfway through the year your team is on top of the ladder but lost two winnable games to crap teams. Are you happy now mate?
ME: Hell no who'd we lose to? I bet it's probably Adelaide and a team whose coach has just quit wtf man, this sucks!

One thing I took from that, Daisy Pearce is easily the best commentator out of that lot.

Yep, if we're going to win a flag, we need to give up the habit of relying on other results.

If we beat everyone below us for the rest of the year the premiership will be a cakewalk.
The other games won’t matter one iota.

To be fair to everyone involved, especially Daisy, that’s not saying a lot ?

hahah, very true.

Next weeks cats away to the lions and bulldogs away to the eagles. They could both lose. Just super critical we beat the Dons.

Geelong are coming REALLY good, and you'd argue they are timing it better than us. Round 22 at the cattery is looming big on the horizon, we've got a lot of footy to play until then but that will be a statement game for both clubs if things keep tracking the way they are.

Clutch goal from Rohan, I have to be honest in saying I'm not sure we have someone I would be as confidently as Rohan. TMac first pick, Petracca because of his kicking penetration and his love of clutch moments, beyond that....

The low crowd numbers probably didnt help Geelong during the game, theyd be used to the usual packed partisan crowd .....lets hope for a well timed covid outbreak in Geelong around the end of August...

The absolutely must win game for the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned.
At the very top of my hate list.

Ben brown, Mitch brown, melksham, hunt, Salem, Brayshaw, viney, jones. I’d back any of those guys to kick straight when it counts.

Yeah all those guys are good kicks, but Rohan’s shot wasn’t a straight forward kick. BBB I’d being ok with having the shot, possibly Salem. Melksham doesn’t seem to be the dead eye he used to be.

They are well coached, strong across every line and have a very strong home field record. Every chance to finish top 2. The big doubt for me is their age profile. I still reckon their legs will give way. If they win the flag they'll be the oldest to do so by a long way.

Tough question. Which team is more dislikeable? Geelong or Richmond

Hardwick v Scott, Cotchin v Selwood, Hawkins v Lynch, Dusty v Dangerfield, Reiwoldt v Rohan, Richmond fans v Geelong fans

Hard to separate them. Split decision i reckon

Same!!! I hate Essendon so much more than any other side.
My reverse order of hate goes like this:

1. The oldest football club in the world, the team of the red and the blue, the mighty Dees.

(Daylight)

2. What I call the ‘peloton’ ie. every other side bar Melbz and Essendon.

(three Lapland summers, ie. 24/7 daylight)

3. Those vile mouth-breathing, bottom-feeding drug cheats.

Well said. A huge week coming up in the finals context.

Sadly last night cost us a chance to get 2 games separation from 3rd spot.  Still, the ball's in our court and I reckon the lions and eagles will get the job done next week.

Question, if we have top 2 sewn up by the last round, will we even field our best side ?

If anyone misses r23, they would've played one game in 35 days leading into a prelim if we won the first week. This bye week is becoming a bit of a farce. Anyone carrying a niggling injury with the discipline to get themselves up for a game after a long break, like Viney can, might benefit though.

Doggies should have not kicked to a contest with two minutes to go. Should have chipped it around and maintained possession

If it came down to another GF, would have to prefer Geelong, just for a change. I try to focus on the positives of the team (Instead of Selwood,Scott) - I think their backline are all admirable hard working players, Toohey, Stewart, Henderson. [censored] Grimes. In the midfield, Mitch Duncan, Can Guthrie, Menegola, no arrogance there. Forwardline is harder to like so forget them.

It's s bit Like in 2006, I'd never barrack for WCE, didn't like them, but their rivalry with Sydney deserved to be an even split, so I prefered to see them win. Awful I know.

footy as a neutral after the bye and before the last few rounds that make up the final 8, is a bit of a grind where I lose passion to Give a [censored] about any result. Could only tune in to the last quarter of Geel v WB, and even that was wallpaper until the last few minutes. Think we need a 17 game season. Season is too long

For me, there's some admiration for where Richmond have come from and what they've built over the past decade.

Geelong just seem to get a free ride with home games, umpiring etc etc. They have an arrogant sook for a coach. I'll acknowledge their recruitment has been really good and they have rebuilt while staying competitive. Wouldn't be surprised if they're rigging the cap to do it though

Didn't Ross Lyon try that with Free a few years ago (and also at Geelong)  - and it didn't work out at all well for them.

As I recall it was the stimulus / knee jerk reaction to introduce the prefinals bye.  Which in turn has slightly reduced the advantage of finishing top 4 vs 5-8.

I have no inside knowledge but have a gut feel that in a few years when they start to do worse and loose a little prominence that salary cap anomalies will start to surface. They must be rorting somehow. Have thought that for quite a while.

Correct.

It was actually 1 minute to go. 3 short passes would have ended the game.
