couple of upsets are on the cards

I reckon the dogs will get up tonight.

Carlton a real chance against GWS

and the bombers are now without McGrath, Francis, Shiel, Hurley, Caldwell. but still should beat the Hawks

First two agree, and i also agree with the other, but add Hawks could have their team of the Century playing TWSNBN and they wouldn't be "allowed" to win

Bulldogs have to prove they can take on powerful clubs in hostile environments. Big game for them tonight.

I Know its counterintuitive but huge Demonland support needed tonight for the Dogs. If they beat the cats then our earlier win against Dogs becomes a sort or 8 point game for the cats loss in chasing us, and sets up the end of year clash also as a true 8 point game for us.  I know it helps the dogs get closer to the Dees , but gives good separation for both of us from 3rd spot, then keeping at least second is in our own hands if we can beat the Power in a few weeks.

Absolutely agree. It's totally irrelevant having separation from 1st to second but hugely important to have separation from third.

Tipping 3 boil-overs this week in Dogs to beat Geelong, Carlton to beat GWS and Hawthorn to beat Essendon.

Be fascinating to see how much ‘noise of affirmation’ 7,000 people can bring in Geelong, and the impact it has on the men in green.

Also, I hate Geelong.

Yes, cheering for Dogs, gut feeling is they’ll get thumped.

Girlong ( unfortunately )

Port

Bears

gws

Essendrug

How TF do Geelong keep staying top after 16 years?? They are Manchester Utd of the AFL

Carey reckons Selwood is up there with the best captains of all time. My bollocks! He is a great player no doubt but how many flags has he won as captain?? Zero

he walked into one of the most talented lists in history.

Dogs, Port, Lions, Giants, Hawks

This game is a challenge.

Cats win puts us back on top but my wrath towards geelong has me confused.

The ...cats...have won ninety out of their last 100 games at the cattery. Wow.

But maybe going back to second place is what our team needs after most of them stank it up big time v the pies.

But the cats with their firepower are a huge threat to the flag and we have shown we are not so beatable.

Mmmmm.

Edited by leave it to deever

Hope to see a good game tonight. Gee conditions will be nice and cold sitting there in the crowd.

Hope the hawks can beat the bummers, giants blues will be interesting.

Anyone know how many AFL teams train on the ground they play home games on?

I’m guessing…

Geelong
Brisbane
Suns
GWS
Eagles?
Swans?

Who am I missing?

All this talk of protecting the head - the commentators seem to praise Selwood for “an ear massage”.

So 7000 in tonight due to virus restrictions.......i know lets pack them all in together on the wings with no masks and empty seats and space everywhere else......

So the VIC government are paranoid about having crowds at games. And when they finally do allow crowds they put 3,500 people on each wing with absolutely no social distancing.

Makes perfect sense.

Like everything we hear  “based on best medical science” - please explain.
Could easily have twice (or 3x)  the number with distancing.  But that would be far too logical and liberating.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
