Couple of times they pointed out we had a poor game against the swans and were very lucky to win,

I think that’s underestimating Sydney by a huge amount.   They played well,

The Swans will take the Blues to the cleaners when they meet.

"And Cripps owes us one...?"

The Australian Tax Office owes me money but theyr'e never going to pay up.

we're a better team than the dogs and they're in for a rude shock on Sunday imo.

Sorry, but I have to disagree on this point... the Dogs are the one team I really think we’re going to struggle against. They are strong across every line and play a similar pressure game to ours.

Bont is a very good player but Clarry wins a lot more hard balls and IMO therefore more damaging.

Bont kicks a goal every game. Clarry kicks a goal every 3rd game.

Very differnent players and surrounded by differing midfields anyway.  Appreciate them both.

This is very much not 2019 or even 2020.  If Carlton wants to see what an accelerated trajectory looks like when a list "gels" - they are about to find out on Sunday afternoon.

We should account for Carlton comfortably on the weekend.

As Yze said in his interview this week, they’re a good attacking team when they’re on. They’re not great defensively however. We are currently the best defensive team going around, and have a good attack too.

I felt this was a danger game coming into this week, as we’ve had some tight  matches with them in recent times. Looking at gamestyles this year though it should be a comfortable win as long as we don’t revert to the Melbourne of old and gold under pressure.

9-0!

Can't kick goals without the ball.  Winning the ball at contest is vastly underrated. The Bont looks great because Libba is jet.

Carlton is definitely not our bogey side ffs. Theyve been under the gun all year, what difference does this week make. They havent beaten us in years.

Swans /Roos were are bogey sides. Not anymore. Observe the TV commentators on Sunday. They'll be screaming at the umps to book May or Petty even TMac.

Why wasnt the Swans player fined for head dunking Langdon.MRP is a joke same as Gilly boy.

Dogs have a much better midfield but we have a much better defence.

No it's not but they have a habit of going ok against us.

The last 2 games against Carlton in 2019 and 2020 we won under a goal. I think this game will be close as well.

And in 2018 we won by 90 points

They have some pretty glaring weaknesses. Their key defenders are average at best and their backline is undersized. Tom Lynch and Harry McKay exposed them badly. Their forwardline isn't great either. That said, their midfield is stacked full of goalkicking mids and is good enough to make Josh Bruce look like a capable forward, which is saying something.

Apparently we are imposters at the top of the ladder ?

I don't think it's possible for that to be the case at any moment in time - IE you get there by beating who is put in front of you, however in the context of a season, that is still a distinct possiblity. #mfcss

Over on the Reddit AFL forum, Carlton fans are fuming at the news today that Patrick Cripps has been playing up to his neck in painkillers due to a fractured back which he’s been nursing throughout the entire season. Not sure how a story like this going public actually affects the club’s decisions, but is it possible they will succumb to the scorn of their fans, many of whom are wondering why the club is risking serious long term injury to its biggest star, in a year where such a risk just isn’t worth it.

When is it worth it? Cripps is 26 already and has never played a final.

The wet worries me. It killed off Fritta and Kozzie last week and I think we are much better suited to a dry track.

Carlton’s defence is not so bad. Weitering, Docherty and Saad are good players. If they bring Newman back after injury that will help too. Liam Jones is ok if he just concentrates on punching the ball away but often gets carried away with the belief that he is a footballer.

As an opposition coach, if you looked at a forward line containing Brown, Weideman, TMac, Fritsch, Kozzie and occasionally Trac, that’s a very serious concern. Carlton don’t have enough quality cattle to match up on all of those players who collectively are probably the most potent forward line in the comp. On Kozzie, I’d give him a few runs through the middle where it will be dryer than the flanks and pockets.

We’ll miss Jack Viney again unfortunately. He seems to loves these damp games at the ‘G.

Demons by 30.

We beat Richmond and Sydney in the rain. I reckon our guys love it now when it rains. They've said as much in the press.

Previously, 2018 MFC would wilt in the rain, but 2021 MFC doesn't.

And Geelong was a wet day too.
Probably played our best football this year in the wet.

One thing that continues to surprise me in opposition threads is how many opposition supporters don't rate Oliver as a player.  The kid is a jet!  There are plenty who do rate him but surely it has to be unanimous to anyone that's ever seen him play.

I'm not sure what to put it down to.

Jealousy?

Carlton can't defend and don;t appear to have the grit to grind out a win. Sydney were the hardest match we've had this year, they were hard at it and tough as, but still weren't able to crack us. There is no way we are as poor at the center bounces again and I can't see our defense being anything other than rock solid. I think we will win by 30 -40 points

The difference between Melbourne and Carlton is about the same as the distance from here to Cairns.

Look at the ladder... No# 1 team in the comp Vs No# 13 team in the comp... should be a clear win to the No# 1 team, as it usually is.

The weird thing, is that we're the No# 1 Team...

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
