Jack Watts Back in the Red & Blue

Paywall!  Any details?

Great story.  Jack is back enjoying his footy with some mates.  Jack has always been a lad, and loves the social side of life and footy. It was the intensity of the AFL and the restrictions on social life.  He’s a great young man, intelligent, fun loving and a talented sportsman.  Hope he enjoys his footy life and showing his footy talent.

I will always have a soft foot for Jack as he was so wonderful with kids, I often took my daughter to training 7 years ago and he was just brilliant in his interaction with her and a few years later when we had moved to Alice Springs he was also fantastic with my son, the kids loved him.

Brighton Grammar has produced not only Jack but current players Jayden Hunt and Christian Salim. Are there others I have missed?

Chris Dawes and Matthew Warnock were both BGS students.

Josh Kelly. Same year as Hunt and Salem.

Wonder if he still likes swimming ... and there was something else (hmm, what was it?).

Sex, drugs and rock n roll apparently. I wonder what the outcome was with that hit and run charge from last year?

Great vision here:

Surprised he knew the words though... Would not have sung them too often.

In the bests, is that the Filipovic we had as a ruck rookie?

Jack Watts. The Peter Pan of football. Coodabeen.

Or Jack Watts has the “Peter Pan Syndrome”; that’s quite possible!

Eddie will be implacable. Yet again, a Port player will be wearing the prison bar jumper without recompense to Collingwood.

Saw him pretty often at the Half Moon hotel in Brighton so not surprised he ended up at Old Brightonians.

I wish him well.

He went to Brighton Grammar.

They are so well mannered they only give half moons? Such good breeding!

I would have thought they'd be raised to turn the other cheek.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
