Hello all,

Just thought I should post this link for those who haven't seen it yet.

It is the first interview that I have seen of the new (and first female) Melbourne Football Club President Kate Roffey.

Here is the link on the Melbourne Football Club official website: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/929744/meet-kate-roffey?videoId=929744&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1620363557001

I definitely enjoyed hearing about her passion for the Demons and how she believes that we all have a role to play to help make our club great.

She is keen to see success with AFL and AFLW Premiership flags for both our men's and women's teams.

Her pathway to becoming a Melbourne Demons supporter was also a bit different as she originated from country northern New South Wales before settling in Melbourne.

One small amount of constructive criticism (primarily for the interviewer) is that Kate Roffey wasn't asked about the progress of our new home training and administration base. Perhaps there is no current news, but I am keen to hear Kate's thoughts on the Demons finally having a proper home (ideally close to the MCG). Please find us a home Kate!

Nevertheless, it is great to know we have someone who has red and blue blood pumping in her veins and is just as excited about hopefully being able to finally end our Premiership drought(s) for both the men's and women's teams.

I think I mentioned this in another post but I think these should be Kate's 4 objectives as President of the Melbourne Football Club.

1) Finding a home training and administration base for the Demons close to the MCG.

2) Having team success with the men's and women's teams winning AFL and AFLW Premierships.

3) Hopefully increasing our membership numbers to over 70,000.

4) Making the Melbourne Football Club financially strong and self sufficient with no more money issues.

I believe this can all be done but it will take a lot of effort and determination.

GO DEMONS!!!

Great interview - Melbourne through and through. Serious business experience and capability. And setting the bar high - Premierships.

Super impressive individual. Didn't realise she was a sports scientist.

I reckon she'll be the president who presides over our next premiership.

I concur with the previous posters.

On the somewhat superficial level that you can judge someone after a single interview, Kate seems like a super impressive person for the role.

Was always quite happy with the way Glen Bartlett spoke, the general progress and stability that has occurred at the MFC under his presidency, but I really do like that Kate is such a passionate Demons person/supporter at heart and seems very genuine in her desire to really connect with the average member/supporter.

I'm the first to acknowledge that I'm a sentimental (very) old fool, but my life-long passion for our Club, and that interview with our new President, seriously made me bleary eyed. I'm an absolute true believer! GO DEES!

Kate will accept nothing but the best, but knows it takes hard work to get there.

And i think she could get the crowd fired up after a win

All good ?

fascinating the amount of people we have in board positions who are not 'native' to football but instead 'adopted' melbourne

Poor demented fools!!!!!!!!

Great content, enjoyed the interview and learned alot about the new prez.

Seriously impressive resume and loved that she delivered the Melbourne Park precinct which is world class and bodes well for our new facility.

Infinitely better than Luke Jackson sniffing coffee cups trying on Alan Richardson's glasses which was the other thing I watched today.

Yes that was very strange

I know i am an older Member, but it was very strange.
Maybe David Lynch was directing them..

A great interview and really impressed by her. She has a very extensive background.

Good luck Kate.

Really enjoyed that.

Seems to be a very focused and driven individual.

Love her inclusiveness and togetherness mentality, seems to running through the entire club at the moment.

Go Kate. Go Demons.

Getting a good feeling with KR at the helm :)

Kate Roffey is a very impressive Lady a great speaker has lots of runs on the board and has a good understanding of what it takes to be successful, she would be great to work for. Ticks the boxes that I look for with Leadership, Kate could be the lynchpin for our eventual success . Well done MFC.!!!!!!

Got her Aussie rules chops playing at ANU. Good on her - my (post grad) footy alma mater, early '80s in the Monaro Australian Football League. But no girls then ☹

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
