Correct. I'm just an old psych Nurse.

Any decent committee in the community could sort out the government.

From my experience politics is just a game like representing people in court is for solicitors.

Hope I haven't missed it, but as a long time member and someone who loves the club, I'd like if Kate could do a media release. Letting us know who she is? What she stands for? And What she wants to achieve? Hopefully it's inline with us the 'members '

Honestly, some of you blokes don’t get it. What questions do you think the first female pres of the oldest club is going to get? What answers to those questions should she give? Of course she gives a shut about equality - we all should. A bloke would never get that question.

And how some on here react? “I hope she cares about winning!1!1!1”

And if you are trying to gauge you’re own reaction - look who you have a like from - that should be some insight into inanity.

Bang. Straight through the middle.

Been told her first address is coming Saturday night firstly at the President function, then on Channel 7 and followed by an address on Melbournefc.com.au early next week

Interesting. So the address will either be watched by all with incredible momentum behind us having beaten Richmond. Or the address will be a pep up after an agonising loss.

Agonising loss?

To the Tigers...

After starting 5-0...

This is what I am talking about people!

Her first communication to the members wasn’t about winning premierships and making this club sustainable for the next 50 years but about equality...

I wouldn’t think that the ratio of woman on the board is in the top 10 concerns of the members.

maybe she shouldn’t wait more than 2 weeks before communicating to the members about her platform.

if we were 0-5 the members wouldn’t tolerate her 2 weeks of absence

Mate, I wrote that 10 days ago...

I ain’t her PR person it yeah, she might want to say something but I will note that there is nothing she can say that will satisfy everyone.

Shrug.

Does this mean we are now 11-3 since Bartlett gave them some home truths?

She is the new club president and hopefully she will deliver and ensue the club is successful. The last thing we need is a president distracted by gender politics. She should concentrate on the nuts and bolts of running a successful football club. I like to see her follow the Peggy O’Neil style.  I hope she doesn’t turn out to be our Joan Kirner.

The ‘last thing we need’ is a woman leader who realises she is a woman?

I assume that is what you mean by ‘Gender Politics’...

This club has been distracted by a lot worse things than Womens Issues for decades so we should know that that is a sideshow to distract from mismanagement, infighting, poor decisions, poor list management, poor recruitment and retention, et al.

So ease up on the pre-appraisal yeah, we wouldn’t want to call anyone a chauvinist... that would be just terrible.

If she said one thing we would all be satisfied. " Congrats to all at the MFC for winning the 2021 Premiership".

Lol - the same Peggy O'Neal in this #changeourgame video, calling for more women in footy?

Don't like gender equality?  Women deserve the same opportunities as men, in fact they need to work even harder to gain the same respect.   Typical misogynist response to positive news.

I will be glad when this becomes the norm in society, and the person whether male or female is best credentialed for the job.  Sexism is an ugly thing. See and hear way too much of it, especially in footy.   Rant over!

Good luck Kate!

As long as equality means equality of opportunity, and is not demanding equality of outcome, then  that is fine.
Some of the hard left of the US Democrats seem to be confusing the two, demanding that  everyone is equal regardless of talent and of effort.  That leads down a very dangerous path.
I hope that Kate is the best person for the job, and it sounds as if she probably is. If that is the case I don’t care if she is M F L G T B I or anything else but first and foremost MFC!

Unfortunately its neither.  They want women dominating every field and men to become extinct.

Otherwise they'd be calling for 50% of midwives to be male, as an example.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
