Don’t like it, Melks was an underperformer last season, think Jetts will struggle with the Cats fwds.

Not happy about Robert O'Gorman umpiring our game. He should've been dropped after his game with Geelong and Brisbane.

Under what form system does he justify his inclusion?

Melksham in and Sparrow out. Just ridiculous.?

2018 Melk was awesome and on that form is a lock every game.

Its a gamble but not a huge one as Sparrow while fierce has not been fantastic.

My feeling is that he will be another tall that we need given Tmac was shaky last week and Jackson has not kicked many goals.

Like Tmac, Melk has all the skills.

Will he bring them?

If hes selected I think players know there aint much room for passengers.

Melk is a "silk player" on the occasions he is given the ball Deevs.   He brings zero accountability/grunt without ball in hand.

Tomorrow's forecast indicates it will be about as far away from 'favourable for silky players' as one could get.

While i respect the FD / Coaches decisions on these matters i am even more sceptical with this one, knowing what lays ahead condition wise.

I expect a tight game.  Hope this decision doesn't come back to haunt us.

P.S.  expectIng the Cats to put one of their best medium rebounders on Melk tomorrow to extract the most out of the lack of accountability / pressure.  Stewart?

Sparrow had 4 possessions

4th highest pressure acts though.

On what possible formline and fitness level was this decision made.?

It only takes one player not pulling their weight in the forward half for our whole game to come crashing down.

Gee, I hope they know what they're doing!

He also only averages about 65% game time each week.  No doubt deliberate for whatever reason.  The average for the 23 that have played so far is 81.5%

No idea but the entire selection committee has agreed so he’s in. I’m behind him and hope he dominates and if he doesn’t I won’t jump all over him and Goody as it’s only 1 game, he’ll need a couple of weeks. Come on Melky!!

I guess they’ve weighed up that a couple of Melksham potential goals and one or two of his immaculate inside 50 entries outweighs a few pressure acts from Sparrow.

Either way I don’t think Sparrow and Melksham are going to be the difference between a win and a loss.

True but we have to have something to talk about.

Not overly rapt about this - I don’t see Melksham as much of a team player: his pressure is non-existent. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, but if I see any spaghetti arm tackles tomorrow, I’ll SPEW!

You are joking

surely.

The game this year is about forward pressure Sparrow doe it Jake doesn't Go and watch the Saints tackling and pressure

IF HE ISNT IN THE TOP 3 FORWARD PRESURE PLAYERS OR KICKS 3 GOALS THEN ITS A BAD DECISION

Personally, I'm quite disappointed to be dropping Sparrow for Melksham.

Jake would want to be setting up plenty of goals to justify his non-tackling and low-pressure acts.

You realise percentage is calculated on total for and total against.

Edit . Redo your calcs. with opponent scoring 1 point and then 100 with the same winning margin

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
