Every game is tough and you bank your wins, but do we always have to win ugly.

When the game requires it .

Which is often.

Go Dees, I'm watching the replay now as I was at dinner with no foxtel :(  just saw bits and pieces on a mates phone. So we are finally a mature group not dropping games we should win. 4 /0 is possible next week

I didn't see any of the game.

Exactly what is up with TMac?

Are we the only team who hasn’t activated their sub in the 3 rounds? If so, testament to the fitness team.

90% luck.

Will take 3-0 any day and am pumped for a shot for 4-0 as I was thinking 2-3 after 5 was a pass mark for Goody to keep his job.

Nevertheless Cats will be a better reflection of where we are at as opposed to the first 3 rounds.

Firstly and most importantly ...GET STUFFED UMPS WHO TRIED TO MURDER US TONIGHT WITH REDICULOUS FREES SUCH AS THE DELIBERATE AGAINST MAY, THE INSANE BUNT FROM MAY TOWARDS A BOUNDARY UMP WHO RAN PAST IT WITH MAY GETTING PINGED AND THE PUSH OUT THAT WASN'T THERE FOR GREEN.  YET WHEN THE TABLES WERE TURNED AND THE SAME FREES SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN AGAINST THE GIANTS THEY WERE OF COURSE COMPLETELY IGNORED.  THE TWO MOST OBVIOUS ONES....BUNTINE A MILE IN THE CLEAR AND KICKS IT OUT OF BOUNDS WITH NO GIANT WITHIN 10 METERS & FRITTA CLEARLY COLLARED AROUND THE NECK ON THE LEAD WHICH WOULD HAVE SEEN HIM HAVING A SHOT FROM 35 OUT.

Dare i say it.... we are no longer irrellevant and making up the bottom half.

Just need BB to get in ASAP.  TMac is a trier but he can't handle 1st or 2nd tall "Quality" defenders.  We are also still one medium tall bullocking mobile marking goal kicking forward short like a Josh Bruce or a Stringer type.  Weid is not the answer imho but happy to be proven wrong.

Kozzie you bloody beauty mate.  Thank god we went against the grain to get this bloke.  Exactly what we needed.

Tracc needs a reset and has regressed somewhat so far this season imv.

Clarry FCS learn how to kick a goal mate.  Even if that means kicking bananas around the body a la Stevie J.

Maxxy what a game son.  Vintage stuff!

Hunt & Ed were superb again.  May another solid performance given how quick the ball was coming in at times.  Gus was on and played a great mop up game but also pressured beautifully.

Goody fix the clearance issue / first use around center stoppages/ball ups pls mate.  We are getting beaten to the drop and lead to the ball far too often and when we do get it we are over using the ball or hand balling when a long lick inside 50 would be more damaging.  Just get it in quickly when under pressure especially early in the match when the heat is on.  We started to do a bit more rush/knock & kick it off the ground forward a little more in the 2nd half utilising Max's knock ons a little better but we are looking a bit of a shambles through the middle at the moment.  Even defending, we are allowing opp defenders to take the corridor in numbers, running in waves far too often.  I realise it's alot harder ro do this for the entire match with the new manning the mark rule but surely we can protect the corridor a little better/more often than we are at present and push them out towards the boundary more often.

All in all a gritty solid win coming from behind but we so often make the odd wrong choices under not much pressure at crucial times that brings the opp back into the game and gives them a sniff and killing our momentum / fuelling theirs (Tracc & Lever the culprits tonight).

We will be torn apart by the Eagles port tigers cats and more

We are a chance against Geelong because they aren’t quick but the other teams will have our measure.

They were riddled with injuries. Our forward line was full all the time and theirs was practically empty. We gave them too much free space through the centre on too many occasions. However it was a win but if they were not so injury riddled would we have won ?

Our forward line still needs fixing badly so hopefully the weed and Brown can be up soon and perform.

Hunt and Langdon were excellent tonight.

There was one moment where Hunt got it at half back and handballed to Langdon on the wing, then both of them sprinted down the wing together with their hair blowing back. If someone could dig out a screenshot of that, that'd be great, I need a new avatar. Think TMac has had his time :-)

And Kozzy trotting along beside them both. Be still my beating heart.

Where are all the trade Fritta knockers?

Thought so, kicked well tonight and it’s all gone quiet.

Also glad that Spargo’s grab at his leg didn’t come to anything. Loving the small fwd mix of Spargo, ANB and Kossie at the moment

Was quiet first qrt but played a vital part the next 3.

Fuxed his kicking on an unfamiliar ground. Well done. He is a veey fast lead.

On a final note gws were freakingly accurate and we were quite poor again in front of goals.

As well as being jumped in the first, Its was a better win than the scoreboard reveals and Oliver and Tracc were not the usual ball magnets.

Tactically we were very sound after Q time. We weathered the storm of 4 goals straight.

we set up so well behind the ball, the giants could only score on the counter or from blatant errors. Well done to Goody. We have an easy to recognise game plan for once.

Was thinking the same thing.

They flooded our forward line and got their early goals on transition, in part because of some poor defensive running and half efforts. But also because our zone looked a little out of shape.

Addressed that at quarter time and as you say they struggled to move it forward after that.

Similar game to the our game v dockers after quarter time. Scoreboard flattered them.

Surprise surprise @olisik and @Elegt are no where to be seen the last 3 weeks after every win.. #trolls

Fantastic win.

Kozzy goes okay I guess.. Luke Jackson is something else for a 200cm ruckman who's only just played his 9th game.

Lever led the league in intercepts this round

Can we at least start a petition to have Dermott Brereton removed from broadcasting?

Was great to hear the Grand Old Flag sung so loudly by the supporters that I couldn't hear the loudspeakers.

Great to not fold when they had a run on and when they kicked the first 2 of the last to bring the margin to just 6 points.

The umpiring looked bad at times, but I'm always impressed by the super eyesight of supporters who can spot a missed free on the far side of the ground. I can barely see what's happening.

Just got back from the game. Took my 3 young ones who wanted to leave half way through the first, and after that first quarter who could blame them.

But we took control from there. Clarry copped a heavy tag but great to see the others trying to work out how to get de Boer off him. Max was enormous, Kozzie just about brought the stand down on multiple occasions. What a win.

3-zip, imagine when we start playing well...

I love Langdon, anyone that mentions his minor flaws needs to shut the [censored] up. What a gem of a recruit.

Pickett takes the [censored]. So fun to watch with and without the ball.

Max ?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
