What's with the please bit?

I remember TItus O'Reilly talking about on his podcast how GWS were often the butt of his jokes (saying they only had two supporters) because he would constantly get heckled on twitter by GWS supporters who said it wasn't true.  The only problem was that it was always the same two supporters... so in some ways it reinforced his point!

This game though I'm a little nervous for - surely at some point in the year things will click for GWS (even if its only a game or two).  We don't have a good record at Manuka and these are the games (after a week of the media singing our praises) that we have a history of dropping.

“I reckon we win by 3 tries”

I was under the impression that the Rooty Hill RSL never closed. It had to stay open to ensure there was still somewhere for people to punch on once the curfew was imposed on the inner city.

Anyway, in tribute to the game being up in the village in the hills we should really be referring to the mighty, mighty Canberra Hellenic Club.

Don't laugh too heartily - I made the mistake of flicking through a Sydney paper in a cafe the other day and sure enough GWS had been "lucky to still be close in the game against St Kilda, courtesy of some generosity from the referees."

Can we replace Cameron with Bellamy.

I read somewhere that the AFL are considering moving a bunch of Collingwood supporters to Western Sydney and thus improving the IQ of both places. (an oldie but a goody)

I think it's disrespectful not to appreciate the effort that the paper went to to translate the English language into the Sydney language.

Although the AFL using NRL referees would go a long way towards explaining the quality of umpiring decisions...

NRL refs have been pretty good so far this year. Certainly less [censored] decisions in 3 rounds than 1 game at Geelong.

Why do I get the feeling that the few supporters GWS have will be using this as LOL material should they roll us on the weekend?

Half a dozen good players, a few quality kids and that’s it. Looking at their 22, GWS should be bottom 6 this year. The guts have been ripped outta them.

According to Elmer Fudd, it stands for Gun Shot Wesidue.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
