Would’ve loved to give all 21 to Brad Hill but apparently is against the rules

“He’s a beautiful kick Brad Hill... oh he turned it over again.”

Apologies to Langdon and ANB

The Age Player of the Year votes from Peter Ryan. His match report is a good one too.  Mentions Petracca trying to do too much in the first half. Pleased to see Salem recognized by the mainstream media and Gawn's game receiving the acknowledgement it deserved.  He and Oliver form a lethal combination.

Christian Salem (Melbourne) 7

Dougal Howard (St Kilda) 6

Commentators that praise Hill and Isaac Smith's kicking are the most obvious give away that they have no idea what they're watching. Both butchers who occasionally find enough space to lace a kick out or kick goals because they're in a mile of space. Neither can consistently hit the side of a barn.

Brett Ratten's done a great job at the Saints but the plan of sitting Hill back loose to try to mount counter attacks just meant they never had equal numbers in their own 50.

Apologies to Nibbler who just went all night, also Hunt as well who had some very important moments in the backline.

Salem – best game for the club

Oliver – such clean hands

Kozzie – superstardom awaits

Tomlinson – rock solid down back

TMac – our only reliable kick for goal

Jordon – love what this second gamer brings to the side

Honourable mention Trac, Gawn, Langdon and Hunt (I think he’s growing into his role)

Salem

Oliver

Langdon

Pickett

Petracca

Jones

PS after the first two very hard given the all round team performance. Had Fritsch kicked straight he would be 2 or 3.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
