Could without the Commentary from the DH Adelaide supporter!

At least we know he's going to go home unhappy while we are laughing.

Can we talk about how bloody good Tyla Hanks is?! Her decision-making and execution is outstanding. She would be leading our b&f and is now one of the best players in the league. So smart and clean.

Most spirited performance in a Dees jumper since Elim Final v Geelong 2018.

Thoroughly enjoyable to watch.

Good call.

That simply has to inspire the men's team.

Who would have thought ten years ago a women's dees team would be showing a men's team want getting angry is reallt all about.

Go dees

Love how she shrugs a tackle. A natural footballer. Great balance.

Great win against a top 4 side. Should make the finals now 2 games and percentage above the Bulldogs. Hore, Lampard, Hanks, Mithen and Zanker sensational.

Best

Hanks. Footy IQ and skills are a step above everyone else’s

L. Pearce. Looks like she is working out what she is capable of. Lots of touches around the ground amd that mark and goal in the square was fantastic

Zanker. Hats off to Stinnear for putting her in the centre square rotation. Too big and strong for opposition mids to deal with. If she could just hang onto her marks she could be anything

Gay. It is a great situation to be in when your 4th option mid gets 20 disposals, 3 marks and 5 tackles. Also one of our top half dozen kicks in the side

Paxman. Paxman game. Takes the right option

Sherriff. I was surprised by how good she was. Really reliable defender

Hore. Thought she was a bit lucky with the free kicks but they were there and she kicked 3 goals

Great team effort overall

Destroyed em

Great win girls, great team effort, every player contributed in one way or another

Hanks and zanker are dead set stars and will be for a very long time

Mcnamarra star in the making

Magee big step forward, has major upside

I just commented to a markc‘ s daughter I wish the men would play with that sort of heart!

That was Swooper Northey era type footy.

Those Irish have strange names.  Sinead Goldrick-Only-Knows-One-Direction.

Do you think she’s any relation to all those brothers One Direction?

I am wondering why we are not talking to the Irish girls about recruiting more players from Ireland. Every women's team seems to have 2 or 3!

Outstanding win by our girls!  Played with true Demon spirit, and worked as 'one' with desire, courage and intensity.

The "your joking umpire" or "no way".

Was definitely watching a different game to me! Binman will remember the game at Etihad when I had the pleasure of his company on.level 3 with a feral Bulldog supporter giving a running commentary also.

Glad to hear that you were the game on Monday Binman. After that snap by Bont they just had to remind us of the snap to win on that day also.

Loved the podcast. Great work

What a fantastic evening that was at the footy. There was one way to describe how the girls played this evening and that is the old saying of guts. Plenty of it. Adelaide are a strong side who move the ball quickly but our girls never gave them room and tackled fiercely. If I was Goodwin I would sit the senior side down this week to watch that performance.

I can't think of a bad player for us with maybe Cunningham struggling in the wet. Having said  that Pearce and Zanker were 2 talls who were close to BOG. However I have to give that title to Hanks. She is a superb player. Paxman ( as always )' Gay and Hore were fantastic but I really liked the game of Lampard and Heath. They were terrific in defence.

My coopers pale ale is tasting really good now.

That was a great win in the context of the season and in our history.  To the Casey Sh. 18 doubters please keep the faith, she is getter better and better.  And Zanker to the middle has been such a positive, thanks Mick.   Speccy Magee's best game too.  Hanksy is such a gun and was ripped off with that 'goal'.   Our Girls played with real spirit tonight and it certainly lifted mine !

Yep, the blokes should be watching that performance. Hard gut running footy. Great tackling and pressure acts like that wins every time.

Really proud of the women tonight. I think they would have mentally scarred the crows tonight.

Ive always thought our poor skills are one of our main problems for the men. But watching this game just reminded me how important agression and pressure is.

Just awesome.

I really love the buy in from the Irish girls, they look to be really enjoying the game and the camaraderie. Likewise; it's evident how they are seen by their team mates.

There hasn't been a lot of comment regarding Lily Mithin's game and I don't know if that's because we just expect her to do what she does or because some people have an "opinion" of her. Pound for pound I don't think I've ever seen a more courageous and tenacious player (apology to Lord).

Great team win tonight.
Zanker and Hanks awesome.
Gotta say though .... Cunningham is hopeless.
Have only seen her do a couple good things over several years of footy.

On a side note.
My anti-football missus had no option but to watch as I wouldn't let her have the remote.
Later in the game she declares "There are alot of pretty girls in your team."
Me - "Ahhh ..... Yes there is." Lol.

Loved the game...the intent & the joy they have in playing !! Great win !!

Same.
The skills might not quite be there with the womens game but the competitive spirit sure is.
Love watching them play and seeing their enjoyment of the game.

Great win by the girls, really team effort with a few standouts already mentioned.  Playing with purpose and a plan for the wet too.

Looking forward to seeing them live next week in Perth.  They'll come over with confidence in their system.

  • GAMEDAY: Hawthorn

It’s game day and the Demons are chasing a fourth straight win as we take on the high flying Hawks at the G. After decades of being tormented by the Hawks the Dees will be keen to extend their 7 year dominance over Hawthorn.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
