Imagine a convoy of range rovers linked end to end.

You mean like Yarra Park car park on game day at the g?

Choc Williams spending a lot of time out in the middle with Jordan, Sparrow & Bedford.

Today I'm most looking forward to seeing how Bowey and Jordan go, along with the re-emergence of Harmes and Hunt back in the positions they play best.

*Bowey, not Rosman

It’s on here at 1210. Funnily enough it coincided with me feeling a bit crook and having to take the rest of the day off.

First time at the footy for a looong time. Feels great. Some  things  never change (cost of chips at Etihad/Marvel/whatever, Maxy’s ball drop).

Saw Rivers and Lockhart doing kick to kick. Instead of just kicking straight to the other (plenty of that, amazing skills, training the house down etc) they faced at right angles to the other and “ran back off the mark”, turned 90 degrees and kicked to the other.

interesting drill, an example of deliberative practice. Wonder if Chocko had a hand in that?

Just no injuries please.

i wouldn't

he competes harder than a lot of more ballyhooed players

He does and I would have vanders in the side mainly because he can put in the hard yards consistently as a forward (playing as a tall option) Ben Brown when fit is another.  The rest ... doesn't happen

The rest of them are in a general sense not playing as forwards should do ... fundamentals ignored and that's why we don't win enough games

It's fair to say the AVB is not blessed with a lot of talent but he is best suited as a forward as he often gets the ball in the hot spot (our other forwards won't venture to that area often enough - getting crunched in the hot spot probably doesn't appeal)

People here should watch where our forwards are positioned today when the ball goes into our forward line.  Do we utilise the hot spot?  Playing in front of our opponents?  2nd & 3rd efforts?  Do we make multiple leads and present to the midfielders?  Are we capable of retaining possession of the ball in our forward line?

Every game I watch with great intent as to how our forward line functions.  I urge others to do the same especially when premiership points are at stake

And if we don't do enough of the above it won't matter how many touches our midfielders get.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
