It’s been 570 days since I’ve seen footy played live.

You're going today?

I thought it was that long for me too. But I forgot about the practice match against the roos right before it all shut down. Rivers looked good that day.

Best half forward line in the hole competition, absolutely no doubt

I want to see how Bowey, Laurie and Petty go. Hopefully Petty does enough to cement a Rd 1 spot

And after watching the carnage in the Freo Eagles game yesterday no injuries please.

The club is being very tricky by fooling everyone that mcdonald won't start forward and baker won't start on the wing...

Will be interested to see what happens.  The result is only important if we win, otherwise:

how is our ball movement and connection to our forwards

can we defend a fast moving side like the bullies?

how will the newbies go?

no injuries

do we have a recognisable game plan?

Rode past Gosch’s this morning. Oliver, Viney, Hibberd and Melksham doing ball movement drills and Salem later on doing some laps. All were moving freely and looked sharp. That’s 5 pretty handy players that would be normally be amongst the first picked. Hopefully all will be available for round one.

Sparrow, Jordon, Petty, Bedford, Laurie, Bowey, Baker.....   they are the ones to watch for me today.  All our list depth problems disappear in an instant if even just a few of those guys take the next step. Truth be told though I am a big fan of all seven.

Looking for a big game from Trent Rivers too, he was very quiet last week.

Some of the boys are coming out to warm up for the early game, Petty and Laurie amongst them.

Yes I am going today. I need to get out of the house and scream at some umpires in the flesh.

I too was at the Roos practice match but I'm not counting that because I didn't get to go through my usual match day rituals of riding public transport, eating stadium food and urinating in a trough right next to other people.

Given the above rituals ironically this year there is the added bonus of potentially contracting a deadly disease.

Given the standard of food and the urinals at the footy, that risk has always been there!

do you remember the days at suburban grounds (Princes Park comes to mind) where the trough just ran into the dirt at the back.

Those were the days..

Never went to Arden Street or Brunswick oval but I think I got to the rest.

Not to mention being packed in like sardines on a train after the match.

I assume given that this is a practice match against another bottom feeding team social distancing on the train won’t be an issue.

Looking forward to seeing Jordan have another crack. Really liked how he looked against the Tigers.

Really unsure of AVB, not sure where he fits in this side?

We are missing a lot of players today, dont mind AVB getting a crack.   Would be shocked if he was in the round 1 team.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
