Great photos. Observations ,

Daw is one hell of a unit.

Good to see Gus & Jack training with I assume the main group and not rehab.

Smith with no knee bandage

They're still in small group training surely, divided up in to groups of 10.

In which case the royal blues does seem to have a bit of rehab about them. Viney, Smith, Gus all have niggles and possibly Clarry on a lighter week.

Limited to 10 at a time they'll all be on a lighter week really.

Whatever your thoughts about Majak Daw's invitation to join the Dees training as a trial for a SSP spot on our list as a KP forward  or back Or ruck trial there is no doubt That any one's heart would be gladdened to see that huge smile On his face on the attached photos of training today.

That was  the Best part of Harley's tryout in 2020 with us showing that in AFL humanity and team culture is still the greatest gift in a Club..

To see Majak out in the track just enjoying life and being considered good enough and appreciated will have given him a great boost.

None of us really know the Full facts about the lows he has been through himself and with his marriage and fatherhood but we may just be able to without too much pressure contribute to his development and growth and enjoyment also adding to some  games of footy which he obviously loves playing.

Lets support him all the way as we did with Harley and make  this ride a Win for all of us especially Majak.

Great to see Harry Petty also but with all of them together it might still be only the rehab group albeit without bandages!

Including  Majak as well.

Is it Rosman to his right?

No might be Chandler ? Or Neitschke ?

Daw is peak physical specimen. Still looks in ripping shape and has serious muscle. Shame he’s going to be played more forward as he really excelled down back IMO.

Good to see Brayshaw and Viney up and about too. Both need a good run with injury and will play an important part of our midfield mix.

Thanks for the photos!

Agree, he is  a specimen and a half and could become the new "Cult" hero!! among the Demon faithful.

For people who understand these things, is the muscle definition that Daw shows in any way linked to aerobic fitness? In other words, should his physical appearance give us confidence that he's aerobically fit?

LT I don't think he is going to be barred from defence if a vacancy occurs There also or his form demands a spot in the 22.

Not necessarily, Aerobic fitness refers to Cardiovascular fitness. For example, Ed Langdon has it in spades, runs all day!  Muscular definition is just that Muscular definition. Majak definitely has that but as to his Aerobic capacity?? Depends how fit he is!

Viney and Gus on the training track great news at least they are hopefully preparing to play come round 1 of the season proper.

Daw is looking in good shape and might be ready to show case his skills in the preseason games.

Great photos and good to see  the boys up and about.

Great to see no strapping on Smith or any of them for that matter, suggests it was a light session for the rehab group of 10

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
