Really like hunt but that helps us bring in pig and bowey has shown he can go alright we just need as little setbacks as possible coming to finalsย

Have a settled team and s mash Geelong on the first final

Hibberd is finished too slow and fumbly we need to include pace into lineup this week maybe Bedford??

Hibberd has enough pace.

Bedford is a forward. We're not about to start experimenting by throwing a small forward into our backline.

Hibberd's been part of our backline for most of the season. He can, and will, slot into Hunt's role fine. He won't be as good but he'll be good enough and better than any other option.

judging by alan richardson's video i would guess plugger mac is less rather than more likely

What did he say?

Really hoping T Macโ€™s injury isnโ€™t ongoing and he can be right for the Geelong game.

I wonder if heโ€™s had an issue since the bye? Hisย ย form has been nowhere near as good as the first 12 weeks,ย aside from the Port game.

Just saw a video clip --ย "Training | Adam Tomlinson running"-- on YouTube, it was his 1st training back from the injury. He looked great. Welcome back Adam, wish you have a bright future!

With the scrapping of the bye I would say hunt is done for the year.ย

I know itโ€™s even for all but that would be really unfortunate for Hunt as this is precisely what the pre-finalsย bye is there for. Iโ€™m surprised the coach of the retirement home down the highway isnโ€™t kicking up a stink about the idea though. Theyโ€™d be desperateย to get their players some time off (so they can visit their grandkids as well).ย

As for Tommy if there is the slightest doubt than put him on ice and bring in Weid. I remember Sam came in at the end of 2018 and put in a hell of a last 4-5 weeks. Give him a crack against Adelaide so Tom can be cherry ripe for Geelong.ย

What exactly did Hunt do to his ankle?

Jayden Hunt has just posted on his SM that his surgery went well and heโ€™s hoping to play finals.ย

I may be letting the cat out of the bag, but I can tell you that Jayden has damaged his syndesmosis ligament, typically a 6-8ย weekย recovery period.

Both Noah Balta and Nathan Broad haveย missed 6 weeks with the same injury.

Slight chance Jayden will return this season.

Thanks @M_9, the Injury Report stated he'd miss aboutย 4-5 week, here's hoping he heals well/quick.

Super disappointing and his pace will be really hard to replace. I hope he can make it back for prelims if we make it that far.ย

I would say Hibbo is the natural replacement there and Bowey can play a more attacking role with Hibbo defending. You lose pace with Bowey but you gain better ball use.ย

Letโ€™s hope Salemโ€™s groins hold up n

ย Bowey is not slow He couldย ย run asย far as Hunty dodgingย and weaving AND PASS the ball to a forward or kick straight!!!

Viney back next week (Sparrow out)ย

May back next week (Smith out)ย

Tom McDonald back next week (for ?!!??!!??)

Hunt missing for next 3-4 weeks. ย Doubtfulย to play again this year. ย

Injury List: Round 23

Tom McDonald (back spasms) โ€” Test

Marty Hore (knee) โ€” 3 to 4 Weeks

Jayden Hunt (ankle) โ€” 3 to 4 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) โ€” Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) โ€” Season

Obviously we have to get there first but jeez I feel for Hunt, heโ€™s really in a race against time (and his body) to get to fitness. Heโ€™s had a really solid season and it would be guttingย to see him miss playing finals (possibly a GF). The question also comes if he has no lead in games would he come straight into the team for the big dance?

If Port win on Friday no way should we risk TMac, play Weid and see if he can recall his 2018 finals form vs the Cats.ย

Jayden Hunt is progressing far quicker than anticipated and will commence running tomorrow.

Can be our medical sub on grand final day!

Injury List: First Qualifying Final

Marty Hore (knee) โ€” Seasonย

Adam Tomlinson (knee) โ€” Season

Nothing much to report on the injury front except for the fact that Jayden Hunt is advancing well with his rehab and looks likely to be back sooner rather than later.

Also, itโ€™s interesting that Marty Hore is now on the list of the players who are out for the rest of the season. Thereโ€™s a veiledย hint from Darren Burgess in there that the VFL season is done and dusted if thereโ€™s no use in continuing with his season.

Injury Report | Smooth sailing for finals

ย

AFL website shows Hunt out for 1-2 weeks.

However,

"The Demons thinkย Huntย is anย outside chance of returning for this weekend's qualifying finalย against the Lions, having originally been tipped to miss a month with an ankle injury. He is the club's only concern heading into September".ย -ย Riley Beveridge

If not this game then certainly the next, especially if we win this week and go thru to the Prelim.ย

He must have worked awfully hard to get back in such a short time.ย ย

Amazing effort from Jayden, wouldnโ€™t be risking him week one but give him some more time to get right and he could be really important to us. Smith would probably be the one to make way of the current group, Bowey came in for him but has put a foot wrong.ย

ย

At finals time, some players get lucky and some get unlucky. We see the accidental heroes and theย  Bob Murphys. The club would be mad to play Jayden this week. There's 57ย years of tears and angst at stake.

I donโ€™t get it. Can someone please explain this?ย

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
