Dees only missing Viney and Tomlinson from best 22 imv.

This weeks opponents Pies are missing three from best 22 … Adams, Howe and Grundy imv. (Greenwood probably not best 22 when all are fit )

His skills let him down at times but I wonder if he could be a September wild card if he somehow finds himself in the side in August?

Big bodied contested player that wouldn’t be afraid of nailing the big goal in a final.

His skills are terrible and you have to nominate who he will replace....

His days in the firsts are gone I;m afraidi

We only need Viney. he is standalone as a top 5 player.

The rest? Petty is a very good replacement for Tomlinson. And it seems Weid and Ben Brown are of a probable similar worth to the team ATM.

we have three players on our injury list

three!

halfway thru the year!!!

what even is this world in which we're in...

half our team is clearly gonna come down with covid on the eve of the finals, right?

One that Dave Misson isn't at the club!

I was so happy reading this. Truly  uplifted. Until the last sentence. ?

With 45 on the list, 23 required for MFC duties and 3 injured - I make that 19 MFC listed players available for Casey this weekend.

Round 15: Injury List

Jack Viney (toe) —  Available

Bailey Laurie (eye socket) — Available

Deakyn Smith (ankle) — Available

Joel Smith (knee) — Available

Marty Hore (knee) — 8 to 10 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

The club’s injury report is up on the MFC site. Injuries minimal and limited to our three ACL players. No mention of Mitch Brown who left the ground early in the Casey game which was reported as a “heel injury”.

Round 16: Injury List

Marty Hore (knee) — 7 to 9 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

Surely if he went down first quarter and didn’t come back you’d think something is wrong with M. Brown’s heel. Weird they wouldn’t at least just mention it and say he’s ok, but hopefully it just means he’s fine for this weekend!

I think I can say with confidence that is the shortest injury list we have ever had at round 15.  at least in a long long time

reasons for this?  we have a mature team with many preseasons under the belt, Burgess, good coaching, physios/fitness staff, good luck

Well done to all!

Yes, the list just doubled in size -

Injury List: Round 17

Mitch Brown (heel) — 2 Weeks

Bailey Laurie (shoulder) — 4 to 5 Weeks

Nathan Jones (calf) — TBC

Marty Hore (knee) — 7 to 8 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

Thankfully, Fraser Rosman has escaped injury after going off against Werribee last Saturday with hamstring tightness. Also, Tom Sparrow who was seen in the hands of the trainers late in that game seems to have pulled up okay.

Injury List: Round 18

Nathan Jones (calf) —  1 to 2 Weeks

Mitch Brown (heel) — 2 to 3 Weeks

Bailey Laurie (shoulder) — 3 to 4 Weeks

Marty Hore (knee) — 6 to 7 Weeks

Aaron Nietschke (knee) — Season

Adam Tomlinson (knee) — Season

What happened to Deakin Smith?

With these Injury reports,  Feels like we're getting a full viewing of the extended backroom cast to prepare for a post Burgo era aha

In Previous years has it been the same? (Dif staff etc)

Deakyn Smith had an ankle injury recently but it’s a bit of a concern if he’s had a recurrence and we’re not being told about it.

It's (unfortunately) well known that Burgo is heading to Adelaide.

Old man injuries catching up with Jones. Really hope he can get himself fit before finals and give himself the best chance he can to make the side.

So, why was T. Mac sent for scans today? (Wednesday)

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
