I have it from a current AFL coach that recruiting Brown was a mistake, and that given current trends in tactic, we'd be better off without him.

And, no, I'm not going to reveal the sauce. I've already rounded it down to 18 people out of 25 million.

Goodwin?

Sir, i knew nothing about his previous knee concerns, what makes you think it is ok if it is the injury from last season?

He inured the knee last year against Jeelong as i recall.
if he needs to regularly see a knee specialist to get on the park, so be it

Well If the MFC was a movie, it would certainly be a prison drama. We've been crawling through football fields of raw sewerage for 55 years in search of premiership freedom

Is this just a sneaky parting gift to the club on behalf of "MFCSS hot spot" Josh Mahoney? or the fact big Max'y gave him the 5 goals in 1 quarter G'up on the radio yesterday!

Also this sound pretty similar to Lever and Gawn 2 years ago, swelling "awareness" following training.

Daniher kicks 100 for Bris. Brown never gets on the park for the MFC. Lock it in.

MFC members/supporters just know from our crap history of recruiting so called stars how it always ends in tears!

Brissie will be licking their lips at the thought of our first rounder. Thanks Mahoney, screwing us even when hes gone.

Did we get an assessment by a knee specialist before we recruited him?
if not, why not given his history in 2020?
If so was it Big Feller, or some other fella (or, in the current PC world, shelia or in between)?

Pickett, Oliver, Smith, Langdon, Salem all need a rest then.

I don't know why Pickett gets one little band of tape across his knee but I'll make an allowance given it's clearly not a huge structural problem. Same goes for Salem's wrists and thumbs, that's meh. Not sure why Langdon has a bandage on the back of his hand but same deal.

Smith - absolutely, if you need that much knee tape then back to the rehab group for you. And Oliver I don't want anywhere near contact work until his shoulder is far more progressed.

Find a photo of Richmond from any of their recent grand finals, barely a player taped up at all.

What? Like Tom Lynch at Richmond you mean?

No. Not like Tom Lynch. He's a significantly better player.

Its not ideal but It’s 1 player mate, not the end of the world

Just have to wait for a prognosis on Thursday and hope for a good outcome.  No need to panic just yet.

Worse case we have Tmac to redeem himself and hope that BBB will be on the mend for a short period.

Dead set mate..

Why? They've stuffed around with Brown having fluid on his knee for months and then decided in February to have the surgeon take a look at it. He'll have a scope and miss 4 weeks then they'll rush him back for the start of the season underdone

Jay Lockhart's spent the better part of 2 years with huge tape over one or both knees and has over looked hobbled.

Obviously half the side were in the same boat for the start of 2019.

If it takes half a roll of tape to get you through a January training session then something isn't right.

The list looks in great condition, that's Burgo's job. Managing injuries is mostly up to the doctors and physios. We've been better under Burgo at getting guys in to see the surgeons and being proactive rather than the old process where we've stuffed around for months before fixing a problem.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
