Spent the last 2 hours reading the replies to Bucks tweet. Some seriously angry supporters and a heaps of them. Heads are going to have to roll, they can't get through this unscathed.

Agree. Lost 3 players who were seriously overpaid for what they actually contributed. Treloar on $750k Phillips on $600k Stephenson on $350k. Really.  Screw them.

Beware the Pies and Eddie's ego.

They may look to trade in someone big coming out of contract next season to win back disgruntled supporters

But gee whiz it would have to be a total game changer to recover from this farce of trade period...

I can’t see any immediate recovery imv.

Eddie's ego is about wrestling back support not immediate recovery.

Nothing like a big signing to build hope and garner favour with the masses

True but I think members and supporters are getting smarter and looking through the bull dust nowadays.

The impact of being in the hub on players hasn't really been given much exposure. It's something that Weideman commented on in terms of his own loss of form across the last few rounds.

From what Stephenson said it was pretty tough on the single guys whose families who at home when other players had their families with them.

Apparently players signed an agreement that they are banned from talking publicly about what happens in the hub.

But what player would accept their shiny pieces of silver to play in a snake pit.  'Back-ended' silver at that.

I can imagine the conversation. "We'll back-end your contract son, all good, you can trust us"

Out:   Treloar, Phillips, Stephenson, Atu, pick 39, pick 42

In:    Pick 14, future 2nd, pick 65, pick 70

With Beams 'retiring' it is 3 players costing 5 recent first round draft picks that were sent packing.

But they save $1.5m a year in sal cap...Hmmm.

Clubs should take heed of how Geelong manage their sal cap.  The List Manager does the first cut and then they meet with the Finance Department to keep it manageable.  And they have sign off rules that go right up to Board level for player contracts > x.  In comparison Coll sounds like the Wild West!

Btw, rumour has it that Beams was brought back at Eddie's behest.  He cost 2 1st round picks and reportedly $500k pa for 4 years and played 9 games in 2 years.  Won't play again.  But mud won't stick on Eddie.  Ned Guy will be the fall guy.

I can see Coll 'tanking' 2021 to fast track a 'rebuild'.

If they end up bottom 3 -5 they will get a pick that will probably be high enough to get a top player before a bid on Daicos (F/S).

Two top 10 players will be a good start and might soothe the masses a little...well those that are left after the membership cancellations.  They lost 10,000 this year.  More losses to come.

What, like posting on a footy forum?

Add to that Stephenson was given the boot based on his former indiscretions (gambling) and bad form this year

To be fair, there were rumours that Stephenson's behaviour in the hub might have been a problem, that and his preparation (again rumours) were somewhat below professional expectations.

If you read closely between the lines and his desire to be away from the club to relax in the company of his family and friends you might see a similarity with a former Demon who has just moved clubs again.

Eddie’s team is already making an application to the AFL for special draft assistance.

Well it could, it could be esscum ?

Sorry hate them even more then eddies ego team

Lets just have a great big LOL at the filth.

You would have to think this would affect future recruitment. My would you take a large money long deal offered by the Pies?

Take a lesser deal some where  else that has a lot better chance of being honoured. It is hard to believe that there are not a few players still there who would now be looking at options for 2022.

With their aging list, it is going to take more than 2 top picks at the end of 2021.

It's not the most up to date this playing list is but by the time next year rolls around 11 players are 30 and a handful more are 28+.

Spoke to a Collingwood mate today who has been a member for decades, never missed a season, and he is now thinking of switching teams and he was dead serious.

Thats how angry their supporters are.

Yep, some interesting rumours...if true then the Tiges boys should get a refund.

...but they (C/Wood) handled the outcome poorly in how they let him go.

Also their coach made a mockery of the hub...not exactly setting a good example.

...but the big one is the contempt they have shown their supporter group.

I guess the arrogance must come from the top, I can't quite think who it might be?????

It's almost like Collingwood became disorientated, walked out the wrong door and found themselves in the street.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
